Blowing fuses I have jvc home stereo #CA-MXGT80. Ive always had it plugged into a power surge protector but he plugged directly into the wall and blew the fuses. Now Ive changed the fuses 4 times but it still keeps blowing them even before I turn the stereo on. What can I do?

What could happen with CD player switching on power supply 220v instead needed 110v?

Feeding it with twice the voltage it needs to work on?
In the best case, only a fuse has blown. Worst case? The whole power supply has had a to high voltage, before the fuse blew. All components will be aged and can give up in a few hours, after the fuse is replaced, or in a few months.
It also could be there are already some defect components in the player.

I wish you luck and hope only the fuse needs replacement.

Hi. Here is a link to a free download of your manual http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/NUMARK/CDN95-_E

Often times, a surge will require going into the machine and replacing one or two fuses. This is not an expensive job. Most all stereo shops have the capability to do this for a few dollars. Joe

Had some power surges and now the unit (XL-MC344) wont turn on. Can't seem to locate a fuse, afraid something more on a component level but have no schematics.

There is a fuse in this unit but it will require a soldering iron to change it. Fuses are rarely the problem. This unit uses a switch mode power supply along with a small transformer for the standby voltage. It is possible that the internal fuse for the standby transformer has opened. The fix for this would be to replace the transformer. This is a common problem with lightning strikes and power surges. WIthout seeing the actual unit, I can't say that this is the problem for sure, but it is likely. Please note that JVC service manuals are not usually available outside of Authorized service centers.

If you can update this with your location, perhaps I can direct you to a local service center.

Brookstone Wafer-thin CD with MP3 player circuit failure...why?

sure, ur power amp section is completely shorted. meaning it is totally fried. get it repaired. it was a stupid idea to jump the fuse. u cud fry the whole thing!!! i sincerely hope it is only the power amp. if it is more than that u have only urself to blame. remember looks can be deceptive.

I just purchased a JVC KD-S16 CD Player and I can't install it.

Get an adaptor wiring harness. It plugs directly into the plug in the truck. The wires are all labeled and you won't have to hack up the wiring in the truck. You can get the adaptor whereever they sell car stereos.

Both trays are stuck closed

Ok, unplug the unit for 5 minutes and plug back into the socket or surge protector. if the unit continues to operate without allowing you access to play a CD, this will confirm load motor failuer. you will need to replace the load motors i thsi case.

Car Stereo will not turn on

Most headunits (cd players) have fuses of their own. If those are are not blown, connect a simple test light to ground and with the ignition on, test your constant (yellow wire) and accessory (red wire) for power. If all fuses are good and you still have no power you can connect your red and yellow wires (whichever shows no power on the test light) directly to your vehicles fuse panel.
