Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am have a great deal of trouble installing Windows Live Mail. My P.C. is running on Windows XP. I have been careful to install the correct software for the XP. At the moment, because I have had to reset my PC using windows restore, my on the PC I have no problems accessing Sky or any other service I attempt to access through using the relevant icons or links. The problem is after I try again to instal Windows Live Mail ALL of my attempts to access the internet fail. It constantly times out no matter what I try. I have/am having problems trying to get to the Sign Up To the Live Mail options. This result means having to restore my PC again. Is it that I am making a "schoolboy" error here or is there something that I can do something about it? I've been trying to do this since yesterday and I'm tearing my hair out. Please could you advise me what it is that I'm doing wrong - or stuipidly!

Since i USING sKYPE ON DESKTOP CANNOT GET WINDOWS LIVE MAIL GET LIVE MAIL ON WINDOWS 8 NO sKYPE sKYPE ON WINDOWS 7 NO LIVE MAIL WILL NOT SEND

windows 8 and windows 7 and virtually the same anything that can be installed on windows 7 can be put on windows 8.

Skype should just be a case of downloading the installer either from the Skype website or from the Microsoft store.

windows live mail has been renamed to outlook.

this may be why you are having trouble finding it, if you do have trouble navigating a useful tip is to press the windows key and type what you want (just make sure its sort of right)

I have an older version of Compton's "Real Science" . Is it possible to install this on my new computer running windows 7

Not exactly. If you have windows 7 professional, or ultimate, you can try installing windows XP mode. Go to microsoft's website for it. you will then be able to install the program under the new virtual XP installation, and it will then be available for use under XP mode programs list. it will run in an XP style window. It's pretty neat. Otherwise, it's quite difficult to make 16 bit programs to work on a 64 bit operating system. there are ways, but it takes a great deal of computer know how, and how to work with some fiddilly software.

How to instal outlook express?

Outlook express only comes with windows xp and earlyer windows versions.
However in windows vista microsoft did replace outlook express with windows mail and
in windows 7 they left it completely out of the package.
In windows 7 you'll have to install windows mail from the windows live essentials package, wich is free to download.
Outlook express can't be installed on windows vista and 7, use windows mail instead.

Download Windows Live Essentials here: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other

I have an old Princeton VL 173 that I had been using with an old computer running Windows XP Pro. It works fine. Got a computer with an Asus MB and a Intel Core 2 Quad running Windows 7 Home Premium...

It sounds like a driver/software issue. When you ran the Princeton VL173 on XP you probably had all the correct software for your video card and the correct drivers to support your video output. When you changes OS to Windows 7, the XP drivers are no longer in place. My best guess is that you need to find and install the correct drivers for your system video and for your video card that are Windows 7 compatible. The old XP drivers will not work in Windows 7.

I am running XP with a Princeton VL173. It works great. I identified the correct video drivers for my system and installed them. My video card is nVidia 8800GT. I downloaded and installed the latest software from nVidia and installed it. It runs like a champ.

Several months ago my display died. It was just blank -- black. I tried using a power supply (AC adapter) from an old HP printer that died, and it worked! The plugs were identical, and the power output profiles were very nearly identical. It has been rinnung great for many months now.

I hope this helps.

HOW?do I download this FREE microsoft outlook express???????

Here is a link to the download of OE 6.0 http://www.tucows.com/preview/194179 Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer 4.0 through 6.0. It is a part of Windows XP. If you have Vista or Windows 7 you cannot use Outlook Express. Vista has Windows Mail preinstalled. Windows 7 has no installed desktop mail program. However you can download and use Windows Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird in Windows 7
