Question about JVC MXKC68 Shelf System

1 Answer

JVC MX-KC68. Works in stanby, but as soon as you turn in on it gets as far as displaying the welcome message and then clicks off to standby again. This was my brother in laws hifi, but he decided to wire it up to one of my 500w soundlab speakers, bridged! So I'm guessing the amps blown? Hiw can i fix it and what would be the cost?

Sleep and standby

Well... Sleep and Standby are not the same. While Sleep only turns off a few things, like display, WiFi, and HDD to save energy. Standby saves your session to the Hard Disk, the reason why the laptop seems unresponsible. This is the reason to uncheck Stanby if you want a fast wake-up.

RX-V2600 shuts down

Try checking your speaker impedance. If you have 6 ohm or 8 ohm speakers make sure the impedence matches. On the front panel hold down button that says "straight effect" while pressing Stanby/On button, it will default to SP IMP 8 min, press straight effect again, if you have 6 ohm speakers, then press Standby again to exit setting. Also, double check your speaker wires to make sure they are all connected, and none are loose.

I hope this helps.

System automatically shuts itself off after a few seconds.

I have no Idea, I have My JVC system sitting in a closet. I got it in 2004, and It was working fine, and all of a sudden it stopped and went into protect mode. I have no idea what to do about it.

But this is what I did.

I unplugged it and I let it sit for 24 hours to see if it would Reset the microprocessor, that did nuttin'. So I took it apart ^_^ That was fun! and I checked all the wires for loose connections, and I made sure te cables were in there tight. My unit is a pretty old though, I have a surround sound system, but usually a good blast of canned air may clean the circuit board and the components.

Cheers!

"Protect" message

It is most likely an amplifier problem. I had this problem before. It went into "Protect" mode and shut down. When I turned it back on, my left channel speakers made a buzzing noise and did the same thing again. I got it diagnosed at an electronics repair shop and they found that the two STK amplifier IC's were bad. One is about $106 and the second one is about $78. I got it fixed for about $200 and works basically like new again.

Goes on and off

There are two very common problems that occour in this set. First on is a bad capacitor in the stanby power supply in the relay drive b+ circuit. Its getting leaky and soon if this goes bad the set will click on and off by itself when you hit the power button. Next problem could be the str type regulator IC. None of these repairs should be attemted by a non tech as there are no user serviceable parts inside these set. Good Luck

JVC mx-kb30 Stereo comes on then goes right back off.

A desperate longshot but the only i have to offer: It might be a problem with the electricity. if possible try and install it at another location in your house, using other electricity sockets. If the problem is solved by relocating the system, you might be looking at wiring problems (audio equipment can be very sensitive to that), if changing anything in the installation process solved the problem then the problem was probably due to bad grounding and "loose" electricity. Try making the installation as "clean" as possible, avoid tangled wires and stressing a single socket with too many electric appliances. If the problem persists, and you are still under warranty, I suggest contacting your local JVC dealer. If you're out of warranty I suggest locating a professional repair person. Good luck
