Question about Nakamichi Car Speakers & Subwoofers

4 Answers

I have a 1993 Lexus SC 400 with a Nakamichi sound system. The 12-disk CD player in the trunk has a problem. CDs won't play because they get stuck halfway between the CD carrier and the internal part of the player. I can see when one is stuck, and with a pencil eraser, I can (gradually, patiently) return it to the carrier, but no CD will feed all the way into the player without getting stuck.

I always knew that replacing the CD player was one option. However, the name of your service includes the word "Fix". Can it not be fixed? Or is too expensive to fix? By the way, that CD player is very hard to find, used, and a new one is major bucks.

It was mildly helpful in that it confirmed that I will have to try to dismantle and fix the CD changer myself or take it somewhere. I guess I was hoping for a a "Eureka" type answer, telling me exactly what was broken and how to repair it. That was unrealistic, so I accept your solution.

If you can open the casing of the cd carrier itself, please check if you can see misaligned gears and components. While the casing is removed, try to apply power to the carrier then insert a CD, you can see from there what the main cause is.

Cd error on my shaker 500 in my mustang do I need a new stereo or can I fix this. Thanks Dean

Hi Dean,
Although it isn't generally public knownage, the original "standard format" for recorded audio was established as ".wav" and is universally readable by vertually all cd players portable, auto and home systems, unless it is "designed" as an "MP3" player specifically and is usually noted somewhere on the unit. If you burn your own disks, although the file sizes are bigger (almost 2-3 times the bit size), they will be readable in alot more players. Recording in "MP3" format, you can get lots more songs on a disk however, you may notice the difference between the "sound" of the two different formats on the same song, it has to do with the "sample rate" and the "interpretation" of the sound by the format. (long explanation not important but, if you're interested you can find tons of information about audio anywhere on the web)
Many audio units read "both" as well as other audio formats that are "computer" or "digitally" created and are actually computer "languages" with different applications like ".WMA" which is "windows media audio", so, depending on the format of the disk you tried playing when you got the error code, it may be that simple, your unit cannot "read" the format the disk was created with and is telling you "cd error". The same thing would come up if you put a dvd or a computer cd in it.
If you only had trouble with that one particular cd, try a commercially produced cd or one you know worked before and so long as it plays you have your answer.
If other disks including commercial cd's won't play, you may have to use a "cd player cleaner", a disk designed to clean the optical laser inside the unit, they usually have tiny brushes on the disk and may or may not come with a cleaning fluid to use with it.
Hope this helps :)

I have a 2006 Mazda 3 and the cd keeps skipping to the point that Im not able to listen to my cds

Sounds like your cd player is dirty or the disk you are trying to play is scratched and not useable?

You can purchase a cd disk cleaner at any department store or office supply. All you do is play the disk and follow the instructions. Some come with a mix of alcohol & water and have small brushed on the disk itself to place the liquid and this helps clean out your equipment. Others clean without liquid.

Check the disk itself for scratches and try wiping it off with a lint free towel. After cleaning your cd player, try playing it again and if it still skips - replace the cd. If a brand new disck skips in your disk player after cleaning it then your lazer might need repair and I would recommend taking it in to a local stereo installation and/or repair shop.

Good luck!

The in dash CD player accepts a disc but does not play. It will show track number but it's stuck on 00:00 then it sim0ply ejects the disc. What could be wrong?

i know this may sound dumb but did you check the cd for scratches or fingerprints?
is this a cd that you burned from the computer? if so is it the correct type and in the correct format..
Sometimes when burning cd's on the computer depending on what software you are using if the bitrate is set to high (above 128Kbps) then the cd will not play on normal cd player
Also when burning cds on the computer the session must be closed completely before it can be played on a regular cd player

Try a brand new store bought type cd and see if it works if it still does not play then it is possible that the laser has somehow become "out of alignment" and that is too difficult to fix and better to be replaced

But by your description it sounds more like the cd is dirty or scratched

It is also possible that the stereo is wore out or malfunctioning

hope this info helps

I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey with the built-in DVD player. Now there's a DVD stuck in it, it won't play and it won't eject. Help!

if you look closely enough there is a small hole on almost any sound system if you do have one put a paper clip in there and wiggle it around a little bit youll hear a click and the system should eject the cd if not then the cd has jammed in there and shattered which means you will have to pay a profecional to take out the dvd and get the disc out. hope this helps and if not well i apologise

Hi, I put the cd with the label up side, and the radio tries to look for the 12 cds one by one, but it is saying NO CD in all of them.

Is it a store bought cd??

Some cd players just simply will not play homemade cd's, or cd's made from a computer, especially if they are not finalized, which is a process in making homemade cds that prepare the cd to be played in a cd player.
