I too have the problem where it gets stuck in the alignment/target mode. Sometimes I finally get out of there, only to get stuck a couple of screens further. Sounds like I need a new screen. Where might I get a new screen and the procedure on replaciing it. I've had it apart and I don't see any way to easily disconnect it, but maybe there's a trick to undoing the connectors...

Change the LCD (and not the touch screen) is what i've done and it's very easy.
If you had it apart you should have seen the connector of the screen.
Just look for a LCD on ebay, for example, and you'll see what the connector looks like.
Changing the touch screen is surely more complicate as you have to unglue the touch screen.
So as i've found a LCD for a quite cheap price i did buy it and change it, everyting is fine now.

I too have the same damn problem. I reset it several times and it keeps looping in the alignment/target mode.
Changing the LCD doesn't make any sense to me, mine seems to be fine. The touchscreen seems to be okay too, when I tap the center of one target it changes from bottom right to upper left. It ocasionally shows the center target and when I tap on it, it starts over an over again... bottom right, upper left, bottom right, upper left, bottom right, upper left, CENTER!, bottom right, upper left, bottom right, and so on....
I'm getting angry : (
