I too have the problem where it gets stuck in the alignment/target mode. Sometimes I finally get out of there, only to get stuck a couple of screens further. Sounds like I need a new screen. Where might I get a new screen and the procedure on replaciing it. I've had it apart and I don't see any way to easily disconnect it, but maybe there's a trick to undoing the connectors... Help?
Change the LCD (and not the touch screen) is what i've done and it's very easy. If you had it apart you should have seen the connector of the screen. Just look for a LCD on ebay, for example, and you'll see what the connector looks like. Changing the touch screen is surely more complicate as you have to unglue the touch screen. So as i've found a LCD for a quite cheap price i did buy it and change it, everyting is fine now.
I too have the same damn problem. I reset it several times and it keeps looping in the alignment/target mode.
Changing the LCD doesn't make any sense to me, mine seems to be fine. The touchscreen seems to be okay too, when I tap the center of one target it changes from bottom right to upper left. It ocasionally shows the center target and when I tap on it, it starts over an over again... bottom right, upper left, bottom right, upper left, bottom right, upper left, CENTER!, bottom right, upper left, bottom right, and so on....
I'm getting angry : (

Hello, cleme_z. I would be happy to help! Unfortunately, I too have had this issue with a pda of mine (not the same brand as yours), and the reason why my pda did this (and probably why your tungsten is doing this) is because your touch screen is broken. You screen cannot recognize nor truly feel touches, so your pda is stuck in "tap center of target mode," waiting for a response from your touch screen. The best thing to do is to contact the manufacture and tell theme about this issue. They might even allow you to send them your pda and replace it for free if they discover that you might have a slightly defective screen. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please ask!
The solution is simple. Please tap the screen exactly in the center of the '+' sign that appears on the screen. The + sign or the target keeps moving till the screen is not alligned. I faced the same problem and searched and found your query on many forums but no luck. So I actually resorted to aiming the target with one eye closed...and the damn thing worked in one shot.....Now my default settings have been installed. Lets see what is in store on the other side of the default installation.
my imate pdal is stuck on the align screen... as many times times as i tap on the target to align screen on all the four corner, it just comes back to the centre..... the whloe process repeats but just remains there.... any solution.....
yes u cant exit the screen until u do the align test for the touch screen its a easy fix on the back of the phone on the left side top there is a hidden pen that comes out of the phone and when u get the pen out use the point of the pen to touch the center of the circle on the align screen test it will ask u to do this in every corner of the screen after that the phone should get out of the align screen test and be able to work good luck
so just do it carefully click between the cross hairs of the plus sign at five points one after another with a pointed object carefully then it will move on to the next screen for further setup ,
but if u r stuck at this point and u are gettin this alignment screen again and again in a loop then my friend its a hardware fault basically it is a faulty digitizer or touch panel u can say the front screen where u click with ur stylus it became faulty u need to replace it other wise it will stuck on this screen alignment process and will not go past, u need hardware replacement it is around 60 to 70 $ cost to replace just take to the service centre in ur area or find it on www.htc.com or tell me if u have somethin else to ask.........pls lemme know if it helps
OK, Now anyone watching this forum can hear the truth. Well start with how to get out of the designator, however this will make the screen out of alignment by about 2mm. tap on the corner targets until you get to the center one. Try tapping off to the side top or bottom of the target further and further away until the program exits. To fix the problem first try using the corner of a piece of paper and run it along underneath the plastic covering the edges of the touch screen. Use as much force as you can without creasing the paper. Do NOT press down on the touch screen! Other than that the reason why you can't tap on the center of the last target is either a marked or damaged screen. Look at your screen carefully and identify any smears, marks or fingerprints. Clean these using a soft cleaning solution (such as for camera lenses etc.) and try the designator again. If this does not work look for scratches. If these are found in the area of the target then sorry, but you can never designate your PDA again.
