Firts check if the mic is disabled in the sound properties. Click on Start>Control Panel>Sound and Hardware Devices>Recordings tab.
Here check if the Mic is listed.If there is nothing, then right click and select show disabled devices and select the Mic as your default audio device. You can download and install the Audio drivers from the computer manufacturer's website. Let me know for any further clarifications and provide me the details of the computer you are using, its model no, Operating system etc. I will be in a better position to help you with these details.
