Please follow the steps below : 1. Position your printer. If you have a laser printer, allow a few inches of space on all sides for ventilation. Ink-jet printers don't require ventilation.
2. Buy a bidirectional, IEEE 1284-compliant parallel printer cable. (Printers rarely come with cables. See "How to Buy a Printer Cable," under Related eHows, for more information.)
3. Shut down the computer, but leave it plugged into the surge suppressor.
4. Compare the connectors at the opposite ends of the cable.
5. Attach the 25-pin end of the cable to the parallel, or printer, port on the computer. (The plug will go in only one way.)
6. Tighten the hand screws securely.
7. Connect the other end of the cable into the printer's socket.
8. Latch the retaining clips (on most printer ports).
9. Plug the power cord into the printer and into the surge suppressor.
10. Turn on the printer.
11. Install cartridges according to the printer manufacturer's instructions.
12. Turn on the computer.
13. Install printer driver software according to the manufacturer's instructions. You can visit the manufacturers website to download the driver software if required. For example if you have a HP Printer visit, www.hp.com then go to drivers and downloads and then put the product number and download the required software.
14. Add the printer to the list of printers your computer recognizes.

Plug the printer into power from wall. Turn it on. Then Connect the USB cable first into the printer and then into the USB port of your computer. Now install the drivers for the printer. The drivers can be found either on the disk that came with your printer or on www.hp.com

Take Care!

How to make mp760 wifi

This printer has only an USB connection that connects to your computer and cannot connect to wireless network directly. You can attach this printer to a wireless printer server/router to enable wireless printing.
OR
SET UP A SHARED NETWORK PRINTER
Any printer that is connected to a computer and is connected on a LAN can be configured so all other computers on the same network can print to this printer. This means the computer with the printer attached to it MUST be booted up at all times when other computers want to access the printer. You need to install the printer driver on the computer and configure it as a Shared printer. The other computers on the network need to add this printer to their computer. Follow these steps to set-up a shared network printer :- 1. Connect the printer to the computer and install the printer driver. 2. Open Printers and Faxes - right click on this printer and click Sharing - click Sharing tab and click Share this printer, and then if you wish you could change the Share name, then click OK 3. Right click on the printer - click Properties - click Print Test Page to confirm printer installation. Follow these steps to configure the computers on your network :- 1. Open Printers and Faxes - click Add a printer - Next - select a network printer, or a printer attached to another computer - Next. 2. Select Browser for a printer - Next 3. Click on and expand the Microsoft Windows Network down to the computer with the printer - Next 4. Select Yes for - Use this printer as the default printer - Next - Finish 5. Right click on the printer - click Properties - click Print Test Page to confirm printer installation.

Printer not responding

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Connecting to printer through network

What operating system are you using? If it is xp it is very easy. Right click on your printer on x computer and click sharing and share it with an easy name like HP Laser, then on y computer open run command by going to start and run and in there you will type in \\xcomputer name which you can get by right clicking on my computer on x computer and choose computer name. once this is typed in run on y computer press ok and you will get window with some shared folders and also a printer. Just double click on printer and it will ask you to install drivers and it will connect but your x computer has to be on to be able to print from y computer.Same principle with 2 vista computers. If one is vista and one is xp this might be little more involved. Hope this helps.

Printer/USB Cable Sharing

I suggest to create a network connection, for the printer.
First, connect the printer directly to one of the computer and then by the network connect the printer to the second computer. The second computer will not be able to scan, but it will be able to print.
