Question about Fisher and Paykel SmartLoad DG62T27G Dryer

1 Answer

I noticed after the last couple of loads of clothing in my Fisher and Paykel dryer that the stainless steel on the right hand side of the dryer was extremely hot. In experimenting, it would cool down when I just used air cycle but as soon as I turned the machine off and checked it a few minutes later the metal was hot again. I turned the dryer off at the box and it cooled down. Today out of curiosity I flipped the dryer switch at the main box and even though the dryer was not turned on, the metal and dryer got hot again. What on earth is going on. I had a F & P washer, the business where I purchased the pair about four years ago closed and this is a small town. I found that it would take some time for a repairman to come out and look and then they would have to order the parts and come back. By the time all was figured it was going to cost around $370 for the problem on the washer so I purchased a new machine. I am afraid to run this dryer for fear it will start a fire. Thank you so much

Thank you so very much. Will try the solutions you suggested as soon as I can as leaving to go out of town for short time. Right now the machine is turned off at the breaker box.

Hi.

If the machine gets hot near to the base even when cycle is off, that usually means that the igniter and flame is coming on, probably because of a contact or because of a defective control board.

If the problem instead is at one side, far from burner (that is what I understood), then there is a short circuit that is causing the heath.

In both situations the dryer must be taken apart. If heat comes from the burner, there may be also lint making things worse. Here a diagram of the base with heater.

Here all parts and diagrams for this appliance.

the model number you have provided is not enough detail to depict which product you have. The model number you have provided pertains to so many different models, as many start with that. Perhaps providing the product ID would certainly help those who are knowledgable to give the required answer.
