Question about Viking VEDO273 Electric Double Oven

4 Answers

I have a VED0273SS double oven that needs a new control board for the touch pad so that the clock and timer will work again. The part number is PE110043. I have called viking who said it was discontinued and they are no longer required to carry it by law since it's over 7 years old. Called 4 or so places I found on line including Sears, all out of stock and can't get it. Any ideas?

I did ask them for a replacement part or a solution. I can't buy a new double oven just because I can no longer change the time on the clock or use the timer. Viking just said they have no soln. and told me to search on line for someone that has back stock. I told them I had already done that... My repairman turned off the breaker to reset the electronics, but no luck. He said I needed a new membrane...part PE110043. He searched his sources, I mine on-line. there has to be an oem manufacturer out there or some place I can take it to to have the electronics re-working. Probably some electronic engineer could fix it ?

Appliancepros does not carry Viking parts and I have already contacted Viking dealers to no avail. Any other ideas?

  • tabrandon May 27, 2011

I will call them tomorrow and let you know. The part is usually over $300, so I hope that it is the right one. Thx!

  • tabrandon May 30, 2011

Yes, I had ordered from Sears, but they ended up backordering my order and eventually cancelling it. Thanks anyway.

  • tabrandon May 31, 2011

This must have been misinformation because they called back and said that they haven't had this part for a long time and that it was over $350, not $44 originally. Any other ideas?

I'm not what what Sears you've spoken to or what country you're in but it's showing as in-stock with Sears at the link below.

I can't understand as it's still showing as being in stock at Sears with a price of $313.99. I presume you are in the US?

Have you had any luck with Sears yet?

Hello tabrandon and welcome to FixYa. The part for your Viking Electric Double Oven is a difficult part to find however I have located one website that does have it in stock here at

http://www.allvikingparts.com/default.asp

The part is not listed on the website so you will have to call them at 1-888-988-4546 and order it by phone. The price stated to me was $44.17. Be sure you inform them of the model number of your oven and the specific part number when calling as there are many other part numbers similar to the one you require. I hope you found this helpful and thank you for using FixYa.

If they discontinued producing certain part because it is obsolete, they should have come up with an alternative part which will fit and function the same. Try asking them for the replacement part or the retrofit part.

F1 error code and constant beeping and oven shuts off.

Hi gwhiz03,

If you are having error code F1 with your Jenn-Air double wall oven this is because you have a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

F1 error/touch panel not working on GE Monogram Dual Oven

Usually, the F1 means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be canceled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC), touch pad, or both.

I recommend a service call for this repair.

Our Whirlpool oven started beeping and the code read, E6 F2. We talked to a Whirlpool rep and he told we needed a new touchpad. We ordered a new touch pad and when we hooked it up, the code read E1 F2,...

F2-E1 - Touch Pad (Keypad) Cable Unplugged -
Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

It appears your timer/clock has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
