No sorry it didn't work. Removed driver and reinstalled butno good. How can I tell if there is more than one firewall or antivirus workingas all the ports seem to work but it is like something is preventing just theprinting.

Yes I can telnet to it I can also reach it through an internet browser using printer static IP 192.168.1.67 address.

I have tried removing the brother programs and drivers from my computers and reinstalling them with both the brother printer disk and the latest update from brother.
Remember both computers are running different operating systems and are doing the same thing. They are both running windows antivirus and fire wall but it still doesn’t work even when I turn these both off.
I have tried plugging the printer directly into each computer and have also tried running brother problem finder software.
I suspect it is either firewall setting or something turned off somewhere but don’t know where to look for it. I have no problems with the USB if I conect it.

Thank you all for your advice but it turned out to be a faulty board in the printer. I replaced the board and now all ok

First make sure your printer showing online status means it must be give self test print. If it gives print from itself then it is working fine. Now on computer go to start menu->control panel->printer and faxes then right click on printer icon click on property then click on "ports" make sure tcp ip port is selected and set to printer's ip address. If it's perfect then need to uninstall printer driver fro computer then reinstall turn off windows firewall and antivirus firewall for some time then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

  • You can check it with telnet command.

    In command prompt type below

telnet "printer ip address " then if it will connected then your printer is in the connection not any issue of firewall but if you are not able to telnet printer's ip then issue of firewall.

What is the IP address for the HL-2040 Brother Laser Printer

Factory default setting for the printer is DHCP (automatically get IP from your router).
If you have it connected you can either use the Brother software to locate it on your network (and set a static IP if you wish), or if you just need the IP, log into your router and view the connected devices.

I fixed the drum and error light but i still can't print

http://mycomputerbytes.wordpress.com/2011/11/16/reset-brother-hl-2170w-network-settings/
If printing via network and you have not set a static (meaning it doesn't change) ip setting for your printer, then your ip address may have changed. IF this is the case, http://mikebeach.org/2011/03/02/assigning-the-brother-hl-2170w-a-static-ip-address/
Also, have you updated your printer driver? Be sure to go to control panel, device manager, printer, and then uninstall before installing new driver. Also, uninstall/remove the printer.

Hope this helps.

How do I set a new address in the 850 motorola router

First, you ned to login into your router (check the manuals for this, Netgear has this printed behind the router near Serial no. etc).
Enable DHCP settings, allocate IP-address range say 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.5 (enough for 5 computers connecting via this router). Next, configure each computer to accept new IP-address from router by enabling DHCP.
The settings on a Windows XP Professional Desktop:
Need administrator access to your desktop, right-click on Network icon, Internet Protocol TCP/IP Properties, click on Properties button, then select Advanced properties, you can set DHCP from here.

USB Broadband to wireless router through desktop PC

If I get you right you are useing a 3g Internet connection and have a router wich conets the 2 computers together, the problem is that you can't share the internet connection.
Without any information about the operateing systems I can tell you the idea:
First you need to disable DHCP server on the router and use static IP addresses on both PC, the IP address should be something like

PC1:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Network mask:255.255.255.0

PC2:
IP: 192.168.0.3
Network mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.0.2

In this IP configuration above PC1 has the 3g modem connected.
This was the easy part, hard part is to share the internet connection on the network, that's a little different ritual on every operateing system, try to use google to get your specific one.

However there's a much more easier way to solve all your problems if you can't make it work, but it costs money. All you need to buy is a 3G router and that will do the same thing for you what your old router did.
I did a little search for you on Australian Ebay to see what you can get.
But I'm sure you have your own cheapbfavourite source of computer hardware as well.

Hope this will help you sorting out your porblem.

Regards
Imre

Internet connection lost when wireless printer added to network

for reseting the password of ur dlink router u have to press the rest button on the dlink router (genrallyit on the bottom or on the back of the router it is like a hole u have to use a pen or pin to reset the router back to its factory default settings after that password of the router will automatically back to admin or password login to ur router change the settings to static ip in the router so that u can provide the static ip of the other router to ur this router (example if primary router HL 2170 ip address is 192.168.1.1 then u will provide this dlink router the ip address as 192.168.1.5, subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 primary dns 192.168.1.1 now save the settings in the dlink router now the ethernet cable from ur other router will go directly in to the internetor wan port of this router. now connect wirelessly to any router both will work fine without any problem

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.

Wireless router

What is the make and model of your router?

What type of internet access do you have (DSL or cable)?

Are you connecting the computer with a cable or via wireless?

If you have verified that the cable connections are correct then I would try to power cycle next.

1. Unplug the modem, router and turn off the computer.
2. Plug the modem in and wait 5 minutes.
3. Plug the router back in.
4. Turn the computer back on.

Let me know the details for the above questions if we need to go further.

DPR-1260 ... prints but cannot access web config page

To get into the web configuration you need to know your firmware on the DPR-1260. If it is 1.12, us http://dlinkps-xxxxxx where the X's are the last 6 number of the mac address. If it is 1.20 and up, use http://dlink-xxxxxx, where the x's are the last 6 number of the mac address. If you do set it up as DHCP or static and know the ip address of the print server just type in the ip address of the print server on the address bar.
