The light is not on, It does have one, I will need to have someone help me get it off the wall to see the model number, thank you, I have trouble shooted the power cord and outlet, Cord is fine outlet is fine, I unpluged it and held on the power button for a minute and pluged it back in and still nothing, thank you, I purchased it in 2007 if that helps,

  • denisebagley May 25, 2011

what do you mean? The problem came from the faulty power supply where the power cord is directly connected

  • denisebagley May 25, 2011

how do I do this? First check the power supply for an open fuse. If you found it open replaced it with same current(ampere) and voltage ratings.

  • denisebagley May 25, 2011

It's not a bad capacitor on the power board .

  • denisebagley May 25, 2011

It does have a light on the front. I wrote that to you, Has a light, light is not turning on and does not have the orange glow when pluged in and not turned on, Do you understand?

Hi Denise,
May I know if the unit has a led light in the front panel or totally dead set. If it has a led light, does the led light blinks or a steady solid light. Let me know also the model no, of your unit, it will help diagnose the symptoms.

If there's no led light in the front panel, your unit is totally dead set. The problem is internal since you've confirmed the power cord is good and the outlet is fine. The problem came from the faulty power supply where the power cord is directly connected.

First check the power supply for an open fuse. If you found it open replaced it with same current(ampere) and voltage ratings.

Let me know the development to assist you further.

If your unit is not under warranty period, you may open the back cover. It has a power supply board(where the power cord's connected). This board has a built-in fuse which is guard to your unit once there's an AC voltage surge or parts malfunction to avoid further damaged.

You may check its continuity using the multimeter, once you found it is blown(no continuity) you may replaced this fuse for the first time and try the unit.

Faulty capacitor has a different symptoms and will not caused the led light not to lit. Since the unit has no led light in the front panel, this is an indication that the power supply board is dead.

Sorry I've mis-looked your first comment, If this is the case then faulty capacitor in the power supply board has a chance, sometimes it has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top but not all, you must have a capacitor checker to determine its condition. See sample picture of faulty capacitor with dome at the top.

SOURCE: My vizio e420vl turned itself

There are at least two power supplies in any set with remote capabilities; one is on any time the set is plugged into AC and is supplying that indicator and the receiving circuit of the remote, otherwise it wouldn't turn on under normal conditions. The second power supply produces the needed service voltages used when the set is in use. This second supply is a common failure in many sets and it is generally traceable to poor design and the use of low-quality components of a certain type. Vizio may have a repair or exchange program through their service center. I would guess the cost will be between $50-$150 and you might remove the back panel of the set and look for a smaller board with larger-than-average parts on it and is related to the AC cord coming in. It should be fairly easy to remove and replace as these are often outsourced and just plugged into the rest of the set with dissimilar plugs making it simple to install and reinstall.

SOURCE: 32in vizio plasma turns on and off randomly and

Hello; I am John at J D Electronics in Poland, Maine. I have now repaired 81 of this same model in my shop or PCB mail in's. The set may be dead always or work intermittently. There are 2 versions of this piece of junk, but I have only seen this one. They all have 2 to 7 capacitors that fail on the power supply board that are just above that red chopper transformer. The are labeled C233 and C234 and others. These first 2 are 3300 ufd at 10 volts and 105 C temp rating. You can buy these for about $1 each from Digi-Key Electronics plus $12 shipping. There are some cautions worth mentioning. Make sure the set has been unplugged for a day or more before starting the disassembling. It is VERY important to keep the set face down on a soft surface when doing ANY work on the set. This crappy designed set has a glass faceplate that will fall down if you don't have it face down when all the back screws are removed and it is very hard to put it back into position if it falls. The bottom plastic speaker strip has a million screws to remove both from the bottom edge. Then take out all the screws for the metal back and unplug the speakers. The connector wires to the speakers will not just pull off without you pressing on a side release pin for each of the 4 wire- Stupid design again!. If you are not able to solder or test these caps , you can send the board to me with $44.00 to replace and/or test up to 7 caps this includes USPS Parcel Post return shipping. I accept only cash or USA postal MO. There is NO Warranty on this repair. It is a better than 80% chance this will fix your set. You must call me first at 207 998 5687 EST 9-5 only. Good Luck! John

SOURCE: power surge while it was

sounds like you have a bad back light inverter board and it needs to be replaced. if it is still under warranty then try to get the manufacture to repair it for you. just don't tell them its from a possible power surge. check sharp's web site for more info. i think vizio is made by sharp electronics.

SOURCE: Vizio E550VL won't turn on. The vizio logo just flashes orange.

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

I have a VIZIO VF550M LCD T.V. I was watching T.V. and it went off and won't turn back on. What can I do to fix it?

Outside of leaving it unplugged for 30 minutes to do a reset, there's not much you can do. It sounds as thought the set needs repair. Sounds like you have an issue with either the power supply or main board

My Vizio Tv won't turn on

The power supply regulator board shouldbe ckecked for fault. Check the fuse. If it is found burned out, find the reson for that. Surely there will be a reson for blowing of the fuse, if it is blown up. Without rectfying it, inserting an other fuse in place, might make things more worse.

Tv won't switch to "tv"

Your T.V. is programmed to store the last input you've selected. You have to manually switch it back to your T.V. channel input after each time you switch it to HDMI or any other input even when you turn it off. The "Source" or "Input" button on your original T.V. remote will change this.
