SOURCE: don't know how to use

first if you have a manual then fine you can read it but if you don't try threading it and try it out. see what it does at the setting it is at. then change one thing at a time and note the positon everything is at now. probably easier than you think and remember you can't break metal?? can you?? don't be afaid to try it. not being mean or anything but until you see what it does you really can't figure anything out. YOu maight try cleaning out the old lint with canned air and change the needle if you find it burred on end or even bent slightly. good luck

SOURCE: Singer Touch Tronic 2001 Sewing Machine Stuck on Sewing Straight Stitch Only

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. I finally figured out that I had the straight stitch needle plate (the one with the single hole), rather than the zig zag needle plate (the one with the curved hole). When I changed plates, it worked fine.

SOURCE: Viking Husqvarna Model 6020 stitch selector will not turn.

look at the cam gear. This is the unit that the cam connects to. It could have a crack or be split completely. If there is a crack the cam stack will have to be replaced. The parts are hard to get and a good technician is needed.

I have a singer treddle machine. I forget which way to turn adjustment to make stitches smaller? Have original book somewhere, even a copy. No luck finding them. Righty tighty or lefty loosen?

The following should help your memory. Regulating the length of the stitch: The machine can be adjusted to from six to thirty stitches per inch, as indicated by the numbers on the stitch indicator plate. Changing the length of the stitch is accomplished as follows: Loosen the stitch length stop control (B, Fig. 12) and move it to the bottom of the slot. Move the stitch length lever (A, Fig. 12) to the desired stitch length. Now, move the stop control up until the control plate (visible in the stitch length slot) touches the bottom of the stitch length lever. Tighten the thumb screw (B) with finger pressure only. At this point, the stitch length is "marked," and you can move the lever up to sew in reverse at approximately the same stitch length, and then return it to your desired forward length. If wrong instructions <?>, find your model... http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/singer-sewing-machine-manuals.html

Adjust the stitches on my 385.19233 what the instruction manuel say is not working

Is this a stitch selection issue? A stitch width or stitch length issue? What stitch are you attempting to use, and on what fabric?

How do you use the pattern stitching module in singer model 2732. I have the Manuel but still don't understand how it works. I have followed instructions and nothing happens. I must be doing something...

Have you installed the stitch selector pattern module for the patterns you want, seated it properly as outlined on page 52 of the instruction book following all 7 steps? (Page 54 identifies the knobs and lever's that need to be moved to successfully install the pattern module)

If that is done correctly, then selecting a stitch is done with the stitch selector lever being moved under the letter corresponding to the stitch you are trying to select. (Shown beginning page 55) You also need to move the stitch length knob as indicated.

You will need to be sure you are following the instructions very carefully as there are a number of settings that need to be made to ensure you get the stitch you are trying to achieve.

I hope this helps you.

Looking for a singer contempra 930 manuel to down load

The Singer Contempra 930 is almost a mirror image of the Singer model 1425. Only difference is placement of Stitch length & Reverse Stitch dial and a variation of the Rear Thread Guide. You can download a free pdf manual of the Singer Model 1425 from www.singerco.com.

The machine isn't making stitches. It's threaded correctly. I have been sewing leather recently and it's been acting up since then. I have cleaned the bobbin area. And have adjusted the tension...

Hello

Adjust the Stitch Length;

To make longer stitches, set the stitch length to a higher number. On many sewing machines, four is the longest possible stitch length and two is average.

To make shorter stitches, set the stitch length to a lower number. At a zero, the sewing machine may not actually make stitches, since the needle will go up and down in one place.

Cut a small scrap of fabric, preferably the same type you want to sew with.

Sew a few test stitches on the scrap. Examine the stitches to make sure they're the length you want.

Adjust the stitch length again as needed.

I have the singer 7442 and i cannot figure out how to get the baste stitch for gathering material on a flower girls dress. I've tried everything and there's nothing in the manual, can you help with this?...

Normally to gather fabric, you select the regular straight stitch, turn the stitch length up to maximum (4 or 5 usually), and stitch two rows of stitches, one at 10mm from edge and one at 20mm from edge.

Then gather by pulling the bobbin threads (underneath ones) from each end to gather the fabric. If doing lengths of more than 1 metre, then stop, leave long thread tails, and start a fresh length of gathering threads to avoid gathering long lengths of thread which might break on you.

If your machine has a basting stitch it might look like " .___.___.___" on the dial however, I've never been that happy with machine basting for things like attaching slippery fabric to underlining, I've always done it with needle and thread to keep the two layers matching and not stretching/slipping. For example, stitching a piece of chiffon to a underlayer of satin, even pinning carefully, these two fabrics will slip under the machine foot so I'd always do it by hand.

If you have masses of fabric to gather, sometimes what is quicker is doing a large wide zig zag over a length of perle cotton (heavier than thread) at the 15mm seam, don't let the needle pierce the cotton though. Then you can gather the fabric along the perle cotton.

Sewing machine instruction manual often assumes a knowledge of sewing techniques that you may not yet have. I have the Vogue Book of Sewing on my shelf and refer to it often. Or Singer do a good range of sewing books too, its worth investing in a good reference book.

I also love www.patternreview.com, this is such an awesome website for dressmakers/sewing enthusiasts and you will find loads of helpful tips here.

Hope this helps you a little.
