Question about Frigidaire FAC124 wall/Window Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My frigidaire air conditioners spit dirt all over the floor. My window unit and my through the wall unit in a sleeve both do the same thing. I called Frigidaire two years ago and they told me there were no reported problems. I keep the filters clean and don't know what is causing this. My rugs and furniture are full of dirt particles when I use these units. I have had air conditioners for many, many years and have never experienced a problem like this. Please advise me if this is a problem with this make and what I can do to solve this. The units work fine but dirty my rooms.

Get rid of the old stuff, too big to be used
Newer unit can't be inside the old sleeve as you call it

Just install the new unit how you see fit, to seal
it up

5000BTU is too small

A 7,200,8,000 or 10,000 BTU is the same size & about

Need to remove through wall fedder air conditioner

If it has a sleeve, just remove the front cover and give a little yank on the unit and it will start sliding out of the sleeve. Unplug the unit first, and the unit will slide all of the way out of the sleeve and you can just set it on the floor or wherever.

Do you need brackets for outside wall installation for the frigidaire 15000 btu air conditioner.

No you do not. Not a bad option, but if wall sleeve nstalled properly this unit will not need brackets.

Panasonic air con unit is not blowing cold air out.

This unit is use in motels etc. Check the ouside coil ( conderser) from the inside (discharge fan ) for dirt. Most of these units are floor level . This can cause a unit to short cycle ( cold air is at the floor) .

Frigidaire window unit spits water into room

To be honest with you this is a good and a bad thing. The bad thing is that it is spitting water into the room. The good thing is that the unit is running Great. The amount of humidity it is removing. is greater and faster than it can run down and off the coil. See if there is any possible way to deflect the water. i would recommend trying to attach a piece of screen door material. It will likely keep the water from going through it.

Drop in a Frigidaire 25,000 btu, 230-volt Electronic Control Air Conditioner (Model #FAS256R2A). It is Way More Cooling than you need, but it is a very efficient unit and will provide quiet, nearly instantaneous room temprature reduction! Width 26-1/2... Height 18-5/8... Wall Sleeve Included... about $450.

Through the wall vs. window installation

I just purchased an alleged "window mount" air conditioner with the closest dimensions to the existing model. Do these mount as through the wall as well? My current opening = 18 x 26" the new purchase is 16 27/32 x 26.

There are 2 different types of window air conditioners – there are the window type of which will fit in a window that opens top to bottom and there is the slide in model of which the actual air conditioner will slide into a metal sleeve which is very common in apartments. In either case you need to measure the inside of the metal sleeve and then give that to the air conditioner dealer and he will know what to do and there is also a POS (point of sale) @ the store of which will also assist you in the measurement of the A/C unit – the window unit you need to measure the opening of the window itself, I hope this was helpful
