REmove the screws that secure the light engine ( right side looking in the rear. Then slide the light engine part way out and you will see the color wheel housing which has two screws that secure it remove the two screws and ubplug the two wires from the color whell the old color whell pops out and install the new one and reverse the steps.
If the color wheel is bad you should be able to remove the lamp and see it---the lamp faces it---it is a small round wheel with colored segments--if any are missing or gone it is your problem.
The wheel is located inside the set's optical light engine--you have to remove the engine to replace it--there are several sites on the internet that have printed and VIDEO instructions for the replacement of the wheel--takes less than a hour to do--
If you Google the model number on the set you should be able to find the part number----if not let me know and I will try to find it for you.
Most of the color wheels for these range in price from 90-140 dollars and there are a lot of sellers on Ebay who sell them.

Hi,since you are getting the new silver air pressure version you will need to put an jumper to the dmd board, why because gold version spins different than sliver and that will produce the tv to have color discoloration or bluryness.Good luck and God bless you!
Color wheel - light engine assembly is bad, must be replaced. New assemblies not available, try ebay. You''ll need technical expertise or you'll need to hire a tv service shop. MOst shops will NOT sel you a used color wheel assembly, but they will install one if you buy it.
if your model is the HDLP50W151 your color wheel is 212.00 at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions and also free tech support to help you with the Indexing when your finished as all color wheels in RCA TVs have to be indexed after instalation. You need color wheel 212184 heres the link

The color wheel is a straight forward installation the indexing is where most people have the trouble as the color wheel needs to be indexed properly after instalation or the tints will be off. I always recomend that anyone needing to replace the color wheel go to this following link as they have the DLP service manuals which will help you get the set apart without harming anything and the site will provide free tech support to actually take you step by step with the replacement as well as the indexing proceedure by on line instant message and thats all free when you purchase the service manual which they email to you right after ordering. Is a very good deal as it makes the job easier and you will always have the manual and free tech support even for other models when you become one of their customers. Heres the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
I have found that this color wheel comes with a set of instructions that includes getting into the service menu and setting the index for the new color wheel. If the instructions were not with the color wheel, you will need the DVD for this model to find the information on entering the service menu and setting up the color wheel.
