Question about Dell Studio One 19 PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have a Dell Studio One 19 All-In-One desktop computer. Day in and day out I have successfully been able to connect (wirelessly) in order to access the internet. (We have AT&T wireless router). Within the last few days, however, my internet connection drops in and out - will even do so as I'm sitting looking at it. One minute I'm connected, one minute I'm not. And once it drops the connection, it is oftentimes difficult to get it reconnected. Does this sound like my wireless card in the computer may be getting ready to stop working altogether?

If you have anything you could try the internet on and see if it happens to that machine as well, that will help you narrow it down.

If it does effect the other machine, it's likely your router.
To narrow further whether it's your router or potentially your modem, plug in your computer to a network cable and straight to your modem. See if you have the disconnection issue now that you're not wireless.

If the issue is only isolated to your machine, while you're wireless...it's likely your card.

And....as always, run some virus software to ensure people aren't just making stuff to make your life harder.

Dell studio one goes to advanced menu

Try booting with only the basic hardware - remove all printers etc -
If you are having a hardware issue -and it is a sudden thing you have hardware issues.

Remove all but one memory stick and see if it boots - if now - remove the one memory stick and place the other one in. If you know you're way around - go to boot the machine and as it starts - hit the delete key and keep hitting it until it goes into the DOS mode. Check the date that is set there. If it isn't that days date set it to that day. Keep settings and continue the boot.

You can enter the BIOS of most computer systems by pressing F2 or Delete while the system POSTs. Then you navigate the menus looking for "Boot order" or "bootable devices".
Good luck.

I have a dell studio one 19 but can't get the webcam to work, even in dell touch cam mode, it only seems to work for the login process.

Uninstall the device and reinstall. Use another program to access the webcam...try and IM program.....Yahoo Messenger. Connect the webcam to another PC to determine if it is an hardware problem with the camera.

PLEASE VOTE IF THIS IS HELPFUL. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS.

Got wireless signal but no internet connection

You can try to power cycle your entire network (refresh).
This often happens when you have a large network.
  1. power down ALL Computers and disconnect the desktop from the D-Link Switch.
  2. turn off all SLAVE AP's first.
  3. Turn off the Master AP and disconnect one end of the Ethernet.
  4. Turn off the D-Link Switch and disconnect one end of the Ethernet.
  5. Now, turn off your modem.
Leave them for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your urgency.
Turn on and connect all devices in the EXACT order.
  1. Turn on the modem. wait 2 minutes.
  2. Turn on the D-Link Switch and wait 1 minute. Then connect the Ethernet to the MODEM.
  3. Turn on the Master AP and wait 1 minute. Then connect the Ethernet to the D-Link Switch.
  4. Turn ONE of the Slave AP's. Turn on your Laptop. try to connect to the Internet. If successful, Disconnect from the network on the computer and proceed to turn on the rest of the Slave AP's, Laptops, and Desktop. If its NOT successful, power on the Desktop and try to connect to the internet.
  • If the desktop connects to the Internet, Check your D-Link's homepage "192.168.1.1" (default) for any wrong settings. If it does not connect, check your DSL Modem's settings.
If the above does not work, post what you did the day before this happened. Probably something small might have messed with the network.
