Open Question

Bought brand new bolens bl110 2 cycle gas trimmer. followed the directions to break it in and start it, but it wont stay running for more then 15 seconds. redid first 5 steps over and over again (about an hour) but it still wiull not run. I used new gas and proper oil ratio 3.2 fl oz 2 cycle oil to 1 gal gas. Any ideas other then taking it back for a new one?

I don't mean to over simplify this, but are you using fresh gas? Gas string trimmers are extremely ticky when it comes to gas. They like it SUPER fresh. And while the gas and oil mixture should be right, it can be off a little bit and still run. Try draining all of the gas out, and then filling up with fresh mix. This is ALWAYS my first step with string trimmers, and it fixes the problem 75% of the time.
Hope this helps!!

Remove the air filter, squirt a little fuel into the carb. Start and let run if it will for a few minutes. Could be you had some water in old fuel. and it is still in the intake of saw. If it still will not run after squirting some fuel into carb. You have a firing problem.

First of all, YES. boggs is a word in my dictionary. Remove the muffler and carefully take it apart. Pay close attention as to how it comes apart because it is vary important it goes back the same way. you will probable find that it is clogged. If it is then remove the debree. If it isn't then you will have to adjust the fuel mixture screw. First start the trimmer, then let it run for a few minutes to warm up, then gently turn the screw a little bit at a time counter clockwise first, squeezing the throttle inbetween adjustments . If it starts to take off then fine tune it untile your happy. If it boggs worse then turn it clockwise.

But first check the muffler.

Good luck

the spools come with line already installed, they are all for bolens, line is generic, you buy your own line, there are 2 different sizes, and a bunch of types, like round or star, you buy generic line because bolens wont make any money if they sold "BOLENS" line.

Sears & Craftsman 25cc Weedeater brand new starts but will not stay running?

Try leaving the chokey partially engaged. Operate it this way for a few minutes until the engine is thoroughly heated then move to the run position. If this does not work return it.

I have a brand new out of the box husqvarna 128ld 2 stroke trimmer. It will start and run fine for about 15 minutes and then it just dies and wont start again for about an hour. Then I get another 15...

Since the fuel cap is clear, your symptoms point to a bad Ignition Coil. Even though it it brand new, this could be the problem. I would take it back where you purchased it and tell them how it is acting . You may even suggest that you think it's a bad Coil. A new coil could cost you $40, but I sure wouldn't pay for it! I'd make them pay for it.

Good Luck!

I have a bolens bl150 gas trimmer and the problem is that it stards but won't stay running. it starts and it diey it starts and dies over and over again. what could be the trouble?

  • Check the fuel mixture and make sure it is correct.
  • Clean the air filter if needed.
  • If everything else is fine then you may want to try and adjust the idle speed screw. The screw is located on air filter/muffler cover.

Turn the screw "clockwise" to increase the idle speed. Only turn it about 1/8 of a turn at a time (as needed) until the engine runs smoothly.

If it still doesn't run properly then you may need to have the carb cleaned.

My pull string came out and will not retract on my Bolens BL110 2 cycle gas trimmer. How do I fix this?

the coiled rewind spring ends are bent back in a hook. the hook usually breaks so springdoes not wind up. some times you can re bend but steel is very brittle and keeks breaking and must be replaced

4 cycle engine wont stay running when pulling it has fresh gas

First, check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks.
If they are o.k., then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit abd replace all appropriate parts.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Brand new husqvarna 445, won't start

Try not giving any throttle when first starting. The newer trimmers are this way many times. (Maybe the newer chainsaws are this way now.)You prime the carburetor, set the choke and pull, but don't throttle until it runs for 10 or 15 seconds.
