Why does mt tv click before it turns on?

Hi:
There are some capacitors that needs replacing on the power supply. Usually there a two to four of them. They will be buldging or puffy on their tops, replace with same value listed on the cap but raise the voltage rating to 16 volts.. Example a capacitor with A value on it like 2200uf 10v, change to 2200uf 16Volts.

Monitor comes on then goes black

I've got a couple of these monitors that have the same problem. All the caps in the P/S except the large inverter filter (110uf/400v) are bulged. I;ve ordered all the caps - INCLUDING the one that doesn't look bad since all have been subjected to the same high heat (or are bad caps in the first place {Non standard?} so am attempting to prevent a recurring problem. Since all of them cost around $6 TOTAL (plus s/h) there's absolutely NO reason not to replace all of them. The ones in my monitors are: 1-22uf/50v, 1-100uf/400v, 1-470uf/10v,2-1000uf/10v and 3- 470uf/25v. I opted for the slightly higher voltages available when I ordered since that also helps and there's plenty of room. the 10v caps will be replaced by 16v ones, the 25v by 35v while the 50v & 400v will be the same voltage. Hope this helps somebody. Good luck and solder quick to keep the heat down.

Need to replace capacitor on dvd player

Hi, you should use a capacitor with same capacitance of 1000uF, but you don't have to stick to the original voltage spec. 1000uF 10V means it can withstand 10V load. 1000uF 50V means it can hold 50V for the same capacitance. Today I fixed my friend's and for that I used 1000uF 35V from RadioShack. It perfectly works - and it's better. But you shouldn't use 1000uF 5V - by now you already know that :)

ILO LCT32HA36 will not power on

same thing happened to my ilo. There are four capacitors that are bad on the power board. You can usually tell its bad because at the top it bulges out. Here is what you need to do. Unplug the tv, open up your ilo find the power board ( the power cord plugs into it). Then find the capacitors that are bad (they are the around things usually in blue color) and remove them by soldering the other side. On mine there where three 1000uf 16v and one 470uf 35v. Those are the ones that need replacing. I replaced them with a higher voltage rating 1000uf 35v and 470uf 50v. All you need to do is solder them back on but make sure you solder them back the right way (plus goes to plus on the board or you will be in trouble). I found the capacitors at radio shack for about 1.50 a peice. If you dont know how to solder look it up on youtube. If that does not work there might be couple more bad capacitors that need replaceing just need to find them and you can tell by a small bulging top.

Can changing 3 capacitors on motherboard solve my problem?

We had a power surge and my VL2018W LCD monitor stopped working... blank screen and flashing blue light.

I carefully opened up the back and found the power board (the one the AC plug goes into). There were about 5 electrolytic capacitors that were bulging (but not ruptured). There were 3 with the values listed by the original poster (470uF @ 25V) and 2 with 1000uF @ 10V.

I scrounged a couple of 2200uF@10V caps for the last two and bought 3 470uF @ 35V caps from Radio Shack (P/N 272-1030).

Luckily, the monitor came right back up and seems to be OK. It was out of warranty, so there wasn't a big risk.

Just increasing the working voltage won't do that much for you. If any caps are bad, just replacing them with the same value is good enough, but a higher working voltage won't hurt (usually means a bigger cap).

Good luck.

Rich
