Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

My lew0050pq drier only rotates one direction. It stops, thinks about it , but still rotates the same way. The motor works properly if jumped, is the timer what controls that?

How to get to motor on hoover vhc691b?

Very rare a motor fails on a hoover drier normally its the capacitor that fails. you can hear the motor humming but the drum wont rotate to proof its the capacitor turn the machine on press start listen for the motor humming open the the door of drier turn the drum by hand fast then shut the door as fast has possible then the drum should start going around . then this proves its the capacitor fault you are doing the job of the capacitor giving the motor a start .

My EDE05 drier has stopped working. Lights are still on, but no rotation.

A likely suspect is the belt which may have broken. If it broke while the duvet was being dried, it could have gotten roasted in the stationary drum.

Model WJSE4150B2WW ser# AF171808G GE washer agitates but won't spin with front cover off motor turns belt in the right direction for just an instant and then stops interior basket can be turned...

When spinning the motor freezes up and will not spin. I released the motor and took off the belt off and the motor ran fine. However the pulley that the belt is also on will not spin the proper direction, only backwards.

Tumble Dryer Belt Keeps Snapping

Perhaps the zipper caused sleeve damage where the drum interfaces with the sleeve. Check for free rotation issues and periodic noises when rotating the unit by hand. Here are a couple of other possibilities: When old belt was replaced the belt was misaligned (not perpendicular) to the drum. When removing ore installing the drum there was a loss of sleeved material that the drum rides on. When replacing the drum into the sleeve and closing the drier up sleeve is not flush, something did not fit together quite right. Remember very small alignment problems will be magnified 3 fold on the clearances of the sleeve to drum. And lastly the motor bearings could be starting to slide in the bearing raceway which can intermittently stop the motor briefly, doing this will also snap the belt. Check to make sure that the motor turns freely when the belt is not on. Spin it in both directions to ensure that there are not any problems. Once you get it all back together check rotation of the drum by hand, there will be some tension but it should move, if not retrace your steps.

TIP OF THE DAY--
To reduce the suction draft and drying time your drier and save some cash, remove the lint catcher and take it to the sink. Run water into it, if there is excessive pooling of the water (water not runnig straight through then fabric softener is fouling the lint screen. Use a small brush and dish detergent to clean it and then shake off all the water and dry the screen. This wont really fix the main condition, but it will not hurt. Remember this tip on future driers and you will make the dryer blower motor last much longer.
Best of luck.
