Hi your unit has stuck in middle of mirror box mechanism sequence. You have to bring to local repair shop. they can handle it. They would charge around $45 to 135 depend on what they really want to charge. Thanks and best regard!

Nikon D2X - How do you lower the mirror if it gets locked up by mistake ? Had an err message on the upper view screen, tried the repair from this site, by tapping the front leftside of camera front and...

Normally, you can manually lock-up the mirror for the purpose of cleaning the sensor. To do this, you need to connect the camera to the optional EH-6 AC adapter. If after removing the lens and inspecting the mirror, you cannot gently nudge it back down (do not touch it...use a cotton swab) then you'll need access to the EH-6. If you don't have one, possibly a camera store near you would have one and be willing to let you plug in your camera so you could try to access the mirror lock-up function in the set-up menu.

In my view finder the image is dark or completely black. If I pressed the shutter release a couple of times I'm able to take photos but the problem returns

Hi, First question is does this happen with another lens. If so then it is the camera, if not it is the lens. If you determine it is the camera take the lens off look inside do you see the sensor or do you see the mirror. My guess is sometimes you see the sensor. What does that mean, the mirror that swings up out of the way is sticking up. If you determine that is the issue call Nikon digital 1-800-645-6689.

Just put new batteries in. No film. I looked at the view finder and snapped a pic then the screen went black. I took the lens off and the mirror is sideways.

You have two main possibilities. The new batteries are incorrectly inserted or the batteries are faulty.

If not those, then it's a camera fault (it's definitely faulty if the mirror is actually sideways and not merely halfway up) and as you can get N75's for free these days (my last two have been boxed and nearly unused from FreeCycle) then it's simply uneconomical to repair it unless the mirror can simply be removed and correctly re-fastened. Spare parts availability is already very poor for the n75.

I just had this problem! And the answer is simple - just hit the DISP. button and the image should return.

Do we have option to take pics through LCD in Nikon D40X?

Hi. No you can't shoot by viewing the LCD, only by using the eye-level viewfinder. Some SLR cameras have "live-view", which lets you use either the eye-level finder or the LCD. It really isn't a very good method of shooting with an SLR, as you first have to lock the mirror up, compose your shot, then drop the mirror back down. Using the eye-level finder also blocks out the bright light that makes the LCD difficult to use in sunlight. Hope this helps answer your question.

Nikon D100: Lazy mirror return.

The reason the mirror is acting up is because the Shutter is going bad under slow shutter speeds. > The motor which drives the shutter charge and the mirror up and down is the same .

Dust inside my d200

The view finder and focusing screen are separate from the CCD sensor. The mirror reflects the image to the view finder until you take a picture. Then the mirror goes up, the shutter opens to expose the CCD to capture the image.

If you have a lot of dust, you should look into a cleaning kit, or have it professionally cleaned. This will show up on your images as white and/or black specks.
