SOURCE: fuse blown

Ours is 3 years old, no longer under warrenty and we just had the same problem. I bought a package of four fuses for $2.99 at Radio Shack. As the man mentioned earlier, follow the power cord to the fuse...very easy to find. Easy fix and saved a $100 service call. TV is working great.

SOURCE: replacement of fuses on Philips 37PF7320A 37 in. HDTV-Ready LCD

Is the fuse in the plug okay?

If the fuses are not blowing when you are turning the tv on, this suggests that the PSU primary side is okay.

Since you have opened the TV up, I would suggest probing around with a multimeter however I do not want to let you harm yourself or the TV.

Look for any:

SOURCE: blown amplifier

I would guess that during the move, the speaker wires crossed and smoked one of the output amp sections. The output transistors are shorted and are causing the fuse to blow. If you can post hte model number, I'll try to get you more specifics on the parts that will need to be replaced.

The fuses in question probably are 5 millimeters in diameter by 20 millimeters in length. You might be able to find them at Radio Shack but they also might have to be special ordered.

They have a restorside, a bit , that's why you have fast and slow fuses. But if they were dead, then the resistant would be infinite, so

Hi, I have a Harman Karddon sub - woofer. when I changed the fuse I get a humming sound. I would like to know if the type as in (2.5a 250v typeT) make a difference/

Fuses are either blown or not. The hum is from an ungrounded or unshielded cable somewhere.

What required the fuse to be changed in the first place?

Of course it can be repaired, but not by us and maybe not economically. Take it to a tech.

Try disconnecting the speakers and a new fuse. Maybe it's just a speaker shorted. Low probability.

I just bought one of these "dead" units for $15...I replaced the blown 2A 250V fuse with a new 2A fuse and it blew as soon as I plugged it in so then I took one of the 4A 250V fuses from the other side of the unit(located right behind the speaker output terminals) and it works perfectly now.
