1 Answer

I have a Pioneer PDP-5010FD television. The PVR box and the DVD player are connected and the TV is showing a blue light when turned on. I cannot get a picture from the PVR box or DVD player. DVD player does provide audio though (no audio with cable). The TV menu tables show up when accessed with TV remote. Please help...

You must be sure your DVD and PVR cables are hooked up right. For example, the DVD has an output of red and white for left and right audio and yellow for video. Look for the OUT connections with these colors on the back of the DVD player. Then on back of the TV find the corresponding colors on the connection that says VID1. There are many other connections but for our example use VID1. Then go to the menu INPUT and highlight video1 and the picture should come in. If it doesn't then you possibly have a signal board that is bad. The signal board is the one with all the jacks or plugs on it. Do the same with the PVR cables but use different input jacks.

Plasma TV mod PDP-5016HD not turning on

The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
