Question about kawasaki Fh680vgs24 23hp 23 Hp Lawn Mower Engine Motor ()

Open Question

I have an x-mark FH680V 23 hp kawasaki ZTR. It will run flawlessly part of the time and at others it misses out, loses power and backfires. I'm not sure but i think that one cylinder cuts out when it does this. It has new plugs, air filter & gas filter. There is no certain time when it does this. Sometimes you can mow for an hour and it will do it and then run fine again.

SOURCE: my kawasaki 23 hp model

hi there

if you had the carby off and cleaned it out , was the fuel flow from tank to fuel pump ( if it has one ) good , and was the output from pump to carb good on cranking?

if so and the breather in cap is venting , it could be that the governor needs adjusting, possibly have got a spring in the incorrect position and there is no binding , pay to check , carby main jet closly for any obstruction. check the fuel level and float hieght .

most times hunt / surge is caused by obstruction to fuel flow , or governor

try holding the governor in a fixed position if hunt / surge still apparent - carby is causing fault
but if not governor setup is causing problem

23 hp Kawasaki FH680v engine losses power when engaging pto!

We had issues in the UK with issues like this, they would blacken and soot up the plugs and start to run on on cylinder, there was an internally vented carb rather than the externally vented carb to cure this.

Find the carburetor and take a look inside. Don't buy any kit until you visually inspect the bowl, float and seal. The float could have gas inside. If you can get inside the carb, then you may be able to see the problem. You are also right, it may need a cleaning.
