Question about HP Pavilion a6658f Desktop PC

Need a good video card upgrade for my HP a6658f... one that will fit in the space provided and not require too much power (300 watt power source). The original is starting to go, and I would like to upgrade if possible

Your system has, from factory a Benicia #IPIBL-LB motherboard and has a PCIe x16 slot. You could go with any card PCIe x16 that is within your power range. I personally like the Gigabyte, Asus, Radeon HD cards because you can get sound and audio out of the card, unlike the Nvidia cards. The card you would more than likely be looking for would be a midrange card going anywhere from 40.00 to 90.00. There are many to chosse from but, I would get one that is Windows 7 or at least Windows Vista ready. This AMD's site and this card would work for you. It requires
300w supply and would do a good job.

How to put a video card in hp p6142p ?

You need to make sure the video card you are putting in meets the requirements of the power supply other wise you will burn the power supply out. If you are upgrading to a better one, then you will have to change the power supply out because that computer comes with a low end 300 watt power supply. Also this computer has a PCI express x16 slot so you will want to make sure this card fits this slot, however, this is a common slot. This video should help you as well.

ATI Radeon X1950 XTX 512MB just bought 2 of these cannot get crossfire enabled. there is what appears to be a power input on the tail of these cards. I only have one plug in off my power supply that...

Each of those cards require 300 Watts for themselves so yes, that power connector must be always plugged in.
You will need a new power source with at least 800 watts rated power and a good quality - if it doesn't have at least 4 power connectors for the video card don't buy it. Pick one

I want to upgrade video card for my pc(HP Pavillion a1120n) i wanted to know what kind of video card is compitible with my pc. please help thanks. ;)

From what I gather, your computer has a PCIe v1.0 slot for a video card upgrade and comes with intel on-board video. So you will need a PCIe 2.0 video card (v1.0 are no longer available and 2.0 are backwards compatible)

I assume, like most PC's, yours has a 350-450 Watt Power Supply. Check your power supply to be sure, you just can't put any video card, you are limited to the available power from the power supply. If you want a top of the line video card for gaming you will need a more powerful power supply. If all you need is better performance and better video quality (DVI/HDMI) then any sub $100 dollars card will do.

I cannot emphasize enough, check your power supply wattage capacity and the watts required by the new card before buying.

Also, do you have additional power connection from the power supply for the new card? most cards, not all, require a 6-pin PCIe power connector.

For the average user I recommend:

I have a Liteon PS-5301-08HA in my HP desktop. I had to replace graphics card and I need more output than 300 watts. What is the best replacement power supply

Replace it with a higher watt capacity, say 400 or 500
watts rating, Choose the one that can be mounted and fit in your PC fit without any revision to be done.

Hp compaq d530 400 watt power supply

You will not find a power supply for this case. Why would you want to upgrade such an old computer? Get yourself a new one with amply power for your needs. If you are one that upgrades regularly, get a standard case with standard components that can be upgraded without the hassle of replacing proprietary form-factor compnents.

Dell Power Supply replacement

You can replace it with a 500 watt if you want to. 300 watt is a good watt. But if I could make a recommendation I would say go to the 450 just incase you ever want to upgrade your video card or anything like that. IF this helped please rate

With your 300 watt power supply I wouldn't get a video card thats too beefy. Here are a list of video cards:

Will a 512 mb video card work with a 300 watt power supply

It all depends. Does the card require a 6 pin PCI-E power connection? Does your power supply have such a connector? If both answers are yes then it is possible. If the card does not require a power connection then it is also possible. But I would recommend upgrading to at least a 450 watt psu to run it more efficiently. Hope this helps.

Upgrade Video Card

I would recommend picking up a higher watt power supply just to keep up with the changing demands on computers. They are not to do yourself. If still wondering what cards can go with a 300 watt power: Maybe an ATi Radeon 9250 256mb? It seems that a 350 watt power supply should still be minimum nowadays and they are cheap.
