In this printer the actual printing head is in the cartridge. The printer communicated with it thru an array of pins situated on the back of the cartridge carrier that make contact with the pad on the cartridge. From there the connection is done with a thin. flat data cable that plugs on the mainboard.
You get that message because the connection on one of the cartridges isn't going correctly: either one of the pins from the array are dirty and/or bent or the data cable is out of its connector. In the worst case scenario the chip that controls the communication has failed - in that case it will be cheaper to replace the printer as a whole with a new one than to repair it.
Take out the cartridges and inspect the contact pin arrays (one for each cartridge) clean them with alcohol and straighten the pins that look out of shape - use a fine screwdriver for that. If that doesn't fixes it then it's probably the cable - you will have to completely dismantle the printer to reseat it. If this doesn't fixes it then the chip is dead, and so is the printer: time for a new one.
Hi.
Try cleaning the metal plate contacts in the ink carriage. The contacts can be cleaned using cotton and isopropyl alcohol.
If that does not fix the problem, then either contact or wiring at the back of the printhead are broken. In that case the printer must be repaired.
Try first cleaning the ink carriage contacts.
Try disconnecting power to reset the printer.
Checking visually the wiring and contacts is not a valid test. The contacts are tested using a multimeter set n Ohms to check if there is continuity (circuit closed) between the contacts inside the ink carriage and the wires at the back of the print head. In such a device you do not see a broken solder joint inside the print head. A similar test is made on contacts from print head to main board.
I see that you passed the question to a different expert.
That also results in negative feedback given to the expert assisting you.
Goodbye.
