Purchased a computer at a garage sell but it belonged to a company that closed and I can not over ride the adm password to add or delete programs.

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

Ubuntu adm password reset

Click "Applications" and then click "Accessories" on the top taskbar in the Ubuntu desktop.

Click "Terminal" to open a terminal window.

Type the following command at the Linux prompt and press the "Enter" key:

sudo passwd

To change the Administrator account password, the password of "root" is changed.

The "sudo" command gives the current user temporary Administrator access, in this instance, to change the password of "root."

First, the user will see a Unix prompt asking for the current user's password.

Type the user password for the current user account. Press the "Enter" key. Next, Unix will prompt the user for the new password for "root."

Type the new password for "root." Press "Enter." Finally, a Unix prompt will require a confirmation of the password.

Retype the new password for root, and press "Enter." The Administrator (root) account password for Ubuntu is now reset

or

Boot computer into recovery mode. Reset your computer and as it is booting, hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard.

You will be presented with the boot menu.

Select "Recovery Mode" from the boot menu.

It is usually the the second boot option.

Wait for computer to boot up.

You will be presented with the Recovery Menu. Select "Drop to Root Shell Prompt."

Type "ls /home" and press "Enter." Note:

The command starts with a lower case L, not a capital i.

You will be presented with a list of usernames of accounts installed on the computer.

Type "passwd username" where username is replaced by the name of the account you want to reset. For example, if the username of your account was "jeff" you would type "passwd jeff" and press "Enter." You will be prompted to create a new password.

Enter a new password of your choosing.

Note: You will see no visual response when you type in your newly selected password; however, the computer still will register the input. Press "Enter."

You will be asked to retype your password.

Re-enter the same password and press "Enter."

Your password is now reset.

Type "Exit" to return to the boot menu and select "Resume Normal Boot" to restart Ubuntu.

hope this helps

Forgot adm password

You're going to have to google 'password reset' and download an application, which is Unix based, which you then have to burn onto a cd, which you then boot up, and from which you can reset the password. You can't look at the existing password as it is scrambled, all you can do is reset it or remove it.
This is the only way.

Need help need adm password ex husband set lonbg ago will not tell me

Try this:
1. Turn on the computer, then press F8...

this will bring up a boot options menu.
2. Select Safe Mode and click ENTER
3. Then wait for it to start up. (it should

take longer than usual)
4. Click on admin (or type in administrator

and click enter)
5. That should open up a "Back Door" account

to let you change the password to any other

accounts.

I just assembly desktop with gigabyte motherboard and ADM CPU, RAM etc...after that i install os Window XP in the 500GB hard drive, the installation done successful, but the problem come out after i done...

Hello,

This is not a hardware problem, it's a BIOS problem and install problem. Here is my suggestion:

1. Go into the BIOS and set your boot as a) CD-ROM/DVD-ROM
b) Hard Drive
[and it does not matter what is next just as long as the first two are as above.]

2. Reinstall windows os, when ask you want to format drive and install. (This will erase EVERYTHING and reformat the drive space.)

3. When the install is finish, REMOVE the Windows disc and reboot the system.

This should solve your problem. Sometimes if a file was not installed correctly and you leave the install disk in, windows will try to reinstall the files and go from bad to worst.

Good Luck

Dont have adm pasword for IBM R40 cant log in

If you're talking about a boot up password for the laptop, you have to open the laptop up and take out then put back in the circular battery. This should reset such settings. You'll want to also make sure the actual battery is taken out and laptop is unplugged when doing this.

If you're talking about the Admin account on your windows installation, you can reinstall Windows making sure not to pick options that do not destroy any data. Alternatively you can use a 3rd party app that you boot to.

Ophcrack:
http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

If you download the Live CD for your platform it will use a legal method for 'guessing' the admin password.
