If you can move the drum freely and the belt isn't broke the motor is humming and most likely needs to be replaced.you can try this to see if it will run, open the door, with one hand hold the door switch in and with the other hand spin the drum while someone else presses the start button.sometimes the motor will run and work for one time or a month but it will hum again but at least you'll know it is the motor.hope this helps you figure out your problem.i tried to look up your machine but it says wrong model number.

Definately sounds like a bad motor
Couldn't find you exact model # but the models that start with DBVH512 all seem to use the same motor

Sears has them for about $170

Maytag Dryer- Drum not rotating (belt and motor both work)

I surely do hope this fixes it all.
The pulley that fell apart is supposed to. Well, not quite. It is not fastened inside the machine, and comes off easily. It is the belt tensioner. It fits into 2 slots on the bottom steel panel of the machine (The base)
You will be finding it is a pain in the neck to put back on, but you can do so. The belt goes with the grooves toward the drum, not away from it. The belt goes in a S shape around the motor pulley and the tensioner pulley. One you put the tensioner back in it's place nin the two slots, you will push (or pull) on it against the spring arm to "bend" it so as to get the belt back on.
Be blessed.

I have a GE DX4500EE1WW electric dryer. Over the weekend it stopped working. If you turn the start dial you can hear it hum so I know it's getting power but the drum won't turn. I've tried it on every...

MOST LIKELY A BAD MOTOR OR SOMETHING CAUGHT IN THE BLOWER WHEEL. UNPLUG UNIT, TAKE TOP PANEL OFF AND THEN FRONT PANEL. PULL THE DRUM AND BELT OUT AND LOOK INTO BLOWER HOUSING FOR RESTRICTION AND SEE IF YOU CAN TURN MOTOR BY HAND.

Heating but drum does not turn

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley. If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine. Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer. Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum. Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn. While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them. I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

GE dryer model dbvh512efoww has burning smell

UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your burning smell may be coming from your belt or an excess build up of lint in the exaust.
You will need to remove the vent exaust hose and clean it out, and also check the lint filter and discharge that is going to the hose for lint buildup.
Your other problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical box that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

When you press the start button the dryer hums and doesnt turn

first thing you need to do is open the door and try to rotate drum by hand it it is not turn by hand that mean there is some thing stack in your blower fan. if you can turn the drum by hand you need two people to check this problem..one open the door there is one push button, push that button and hold now second person need to push the start button when you heard hums sound the turn the drum by hand again if your dryer stat spin that mean you have bad motor. (forgive me for my english)

Dryer makes noise when turning like bearings going or belt squeek

Hi,
check the following -
It's noisy
If your dryer is noisy, check these:

Rollers
Idler pulley
Glides
Rear drum bearing
Blower wheel

Rollers
Many dryers use rollers or wheels to support the clothes drum. When these rollers are worn, they can be noisy. You should replace the whole set of rollers at the same time.

Idler pulley
Dryers have a tension or idler pulley that keeps tension on the main drive belt. When it's worn, it can be noisy. When that happens, don't lubricate it. Just replace it.

Glides
Many dryers use nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn, they can be noisy. When that happens, replace them.

Rear drum bearing
Some dryers support the clothes drum in the rear with a center spindle instead of rollers. The spindle may be a ball-and-socket type support or a shaft through a sleeve. When the components are worn, they may squeak, squeal, or rub. You can't repair them. Just replace them when they're worn.

Blower wheel
Your dryer's blower wheel pulls air over the heat source, through the clothes drum, and past the thermostats, then pushes it out the exhaust duct. The blower wheel, which is usually plastic, may wear out over time. But if it's noisy, it may simply be clogged with lint. Clean the blower and test to see if the dryer is still noisy. If it is, you probably need to replace it.

good luck.....

Dryer will not start

I had the same problem and this is how I fixed it ,,, i did a comfortor ,very heavy when wet .....next day i tried to do a new load ...when I turned start button all i got was a hum... I removed screws just inside door at top of lip this releases top of dryer,,,, exposing drum i rotated drum clockwise to check condition of belt ....looked good ....mine is 7 yrs old ...to soon to be motor problem ....so while turning drum i held start button on and finally motor kicked in and this solved my problem...you might be able to accomplish this without taking of panel ..though you wont be able to see belt ....by turning the drum from inside dryer while someone else turns on start button
