SOURCE: canon mf4350d WONT scan out of the box

The software that comes with Canon MF4350 does not detect the absence of WIA service running. If printer is working and the correct driver is installed, the first thing to check is: 1. Check that the scanner does NOT appear under Control Panel -> Scanners and Cameras. 2. Navigate to Administrative tools -> Services (the same menu is available under My Computer -> Manage -> Services. 3. Check that service "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" is enabled and started. 4. If WIA service is not enabled, enable it. The scanner should appear under scanners menu (see 1.) and Canon MF4350 should work fine.

Why has it stopped working?

Apparently in some cases all you need to do is start Excel/Word/Powerpoint/Outlook as Administrator in order to get permissions to do something on the computer. If you're using Windows 7, right-click the application in the Start Menu and click "Run as administrator". See if this works for you.

In Windows 8, open the Home screen, find the application you're trying to open; right-click it and select "Open as administrator" at the bottom.
. If you are still experiencing the issue I can suggest this program Excel Repair Toolbox

Hello
Actually you do have to select a program for working with photographs such as Photoshop, or Adobe Elements, maybe Microsoft Paint or Picasa maybe. Then your scanner will scan and the pictures will be saved and they'll be opened in the photo program you have chosen afterwards.

Can't calibrate the scan before scanning

I had the same problem when upgrading to mac os x. I was trying to scan directly from Photoshop but got the calibration message. I tried the two solutions given at the Canon website but they didn't work. I ended up downloading the Toolbox application to scan directly from there but the same message appeared. After installing the Toolbox application I unistalled the driver (11250) and reinstalled it. I opened Photoshop and tried scanning and the calibration window appeared only this time it didn't stop to give me the "Flim Adapter" warning. I must point that the scanner lid was open when this happend but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it.

So apparently it works if you have the Toolbox installed prior to installing the driver. The driver, Toolbox application and unistall driver can be found at Canon's website. Hope this helps.

Ciao!

Are you scanning from Toolbox? Make sure the correct scanner is selected in the Settings section.

What OS is this? Try scanning from various applications.
Does the scanner react at all at any time?

Make sure you have installed ScanGear and not just Toolbox.
