Hello
More than likely the device drivers are not the right ones for the Widows 7 operating system. The problem with this new Windows 7 operating system is that very few pieces of hardware can be used on it from previous versions of Windows like Vista and XP because the drivers are not compatible with the Windows 7 system, the drivers must be specifically listed as compatible for windows 7. I get this same type of question over and over again here on FixYa when a system has been upgraded. My advice is to buy a system that is loaded for Windows 7 and reinstall the older Windows version in this PC. I will venture to say that if you reinstalled the older version of Windows the system would work just fine.

Hi there,
The only possible reason is that the motherboard asus p5vd2-mx is not compatible with windows 7 if you'd go to the asus website ( http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5VD2MX/#download ) and go to the download tab It will ask you to choose the operating system you are running and windows 7 is not one of them.
If it's acting up and there are no sounds and the system keeps crashing please make sure that all connectors and cables to the motherboard are tight.
But my strong recommendation is to go back to XP or Vista (if you prefer) as this ASUS board is not compatible with windows 7.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you upgrade your system to windows 7 you need to update the driver aswell. You can refer to the link below for the driver of your motherboard. The issue that your experiencing is caused by the drivers. If you will check the drivers that are available to most upto date driver is for Windows Vista only and all drivers are available. It only contain the complete driver for Windows XP. The problem that you have is a Compatibility Issue with Windows 7 since the motherboard was released before the release of Windows 7 Operating System. Inshort you need to downgrade the system because it will not work well with Windows 7.

Check the link it's a compatibility issue with windows 7. The motherboard that you have is not a windows 7 compliant system. You can only have sounds if you install a driver. Try to reinstall the driver using the Windows XP sound driver see if it will works. even if you call asus they will tell you exactly what ive mention

The board is old. Better to have an upgrade if you want to use Windows 7

    Hi,

You can try this solution. download the old (Win XP) SoundMAX
    ADI1986A Audio driver for
P5VD2-MX on the link that ive provided. Make sure to select XP on the dropdown.

    under "troubleshoot compatibility" (right mouse
click) and select Winodows XP compatibility mode. This will fix the issue.

Sorry to tell you that motherboard does not offically support windows 7 as such no drivers exist for it. If you can make it work great. Otherwise ASUS would be ha[ppy to sell you a new motherboard that will support windows 7 or even windows 8

My asus p5vd2-mx se graphics intergrated motherboard has started playing up since i installed windows 7 my sound has gone and keeps freezing etc

There have been quite a few issues with Windows 7 compatabilty with software from prior versions. You have VIA P4M890 and VT8327 chipsets, Via Unichrome Pro graphics and Realtek ALC660 sound. Asus does not show support for Windows 7 and your board byt, in some instances, Vista will work. Tjis is Asus's link:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5VD2MX_SE/#download
You can try your sound here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
The Unichrome Pro doesn't show anY support passed Win XP. You do have a PCIe x 16 slot so, if you can't live without Windows 7, a graphics card with windows 7 support is an option. With the Radeon HD cards, you can get sound and audio.

I cant find a vga driver for my ASUS P5VD2-MX

Just head to this page:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Select Motherboard on the top drop down
Socket 775 on the next
Then P5VD2-MX

It will pop up asking you what OS, select your appropriate choice and it takes you to the downloads. You want the one under VGA.

Thanks

I just install windows 7 os but no dislplay where can I download an vga driver for Asus P5VD2-MX se

this motherboard is not on asus's list of windows seven supported motherboard, which doesn't mean it doesn't work. use this link to asus's download page: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us if you are using windows 7 32bit version , use the vista 32bit display driver . if your using the the 64bit win7 version, download and install the vista 64bit drivers.

Go to the following DriverEasy website, download and install. Follow the instructions and it should allow you to download and install the correct drivers for your Motherboard. Much easier than trying to find the drivers on the ASUS website.

No sound in win 7 with P5VD2-MX motherboard

Hi again,

I've just run a check, and Asus don't have driver support for win7 on the P5VD2-MX, not sure if they ever will. Though they do have the drivers for Vista (32Bit),

You can download them from here:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

Just type in the model number in the top left corner, select the correct board, then select your OS, then away you go.

Hope that helps.

Regards
