Question about Loewe Televison & Video

1 Answer

I just bought a used Loewe TV model number ACO938PB. I can;t get the picture to fill the screen. I've changed the settings inside the TV and the 6X9 format works best, but there are still bars of black on the sides. I checked with At&T (my cable oprovider) and their zoom feature doesn't help either. Please help.

I had a similar problem, and I fixed it with my new Sony flat screen by going into the zoom mode and then menu on the tv remote. You can then access settings such as horizontal and vertical and change them so that your screen can adjust. The only way you can access those settings is in zoom mode.

I'm not failure with that exact model but it has to do with cable box not the tv. Well it could also be the tv but start at the box first. make sure it's set to not be expanded it should be set to normal picture size and formatted to match the shape of the screen 4:3 or 16:9 and select the highest output like 1080Ip or the lesser 780p the settings will be located in the cable boxes preferences and settings controls. after looking for these settings you will be able to figure out the screen sizes and formats. Then check the tv's menue and make sure it's set to the highest input selection with the screen size setting as normal & not expanded or zoomed.

I am finding a problem with searching for channels on my new Loewe Tv

That is a real problem as almost all those sets you need the remote to do anything---What is the model number of the set---I ask as I used to repair them when they were under warranty and have 3 brand new remotes for certain models

My loewe articos 30 has a picture but no sound. Frustrating!! Please help!!

Most of the Loewe's (I did factory warranty work on them) have a black square plug in the back with a single jumper wire---if plug is not there there will be no sound.

Get it to work with only the internal speakers and ALWAYS MAKE ALL EXTERNAL HOOKUP WITH THE UNITS OFF.

LET ME know if you have questions as I am here to help you.

Turning it on the picture is fine and clear but after a short time the screen switches from picture into vertical stripes

Hi Karl,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.

The symptoms you've described is an indication of fault on the LCD controller board(T-con board) inside the TV. This board processes the images and will feed to the LCD panel to generate picture. The chips and other parts on this board gone bad that's why the screen turns to vertical stripes after a short period of time because of an overload. It is located at the bottom center inside the set and covered with metal shielding.

I've saw this board at www.ebay.com. I would advice you to check the actual part no. of your T-con board that is printed on the board itself because there's some instances that the manufacturer used different version of this board(depend on the LCD panel) with same model number.

Also, don't forget to check if your unit is under warranty period (1 year), if so avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the rear cover will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Again, thank you. Good luck and take care!

SHARP AQUOS 46INCH CANT GET A FULL PICTURE ONLY IF I USE ZOOM WILL THE SCREENBE FULL

Hi Anthony,

You're describing what is called letterbox and pillerbox. Letterboxing is when there are two horizontal bars - one at the top and one at the bottom of the screen with a wide picture between. Pillerbox is when there are two vertical bars - one on the left edge and one on the right edge of the screen with a tall picture between.

The settings on your TV (and on your cable box, satellite box, DVD player, etc.) tell the TV how to display a picture that will not fill the screen completely. If the program source (an older video-taped TV show, non-widescreen version DVD, etc) was not originally "shot" or saved in widescreen format, the TV offers you a choice on how to display the image. They ask if they should stretch or zoom to fill the screen (and you have to deal with the skinny / tall images or lost portions of the picture); or maintain the aspect ratio (not stretching or zooming) by leaving a part of the screen blank (grey or black) by inserting bars left and right or top and bottom of the screen.

Start out by telling the devices that send pictures in a format that matches you TV's screen ratio. I am assuming you've got a wide screen HDTV which would mean it should be set to "16 x 9" (a.k.a. 16:9) ratio display. If you have it set for 4 x 3 (a.k.a. 4:3) you should change it. Look for a setting on your TV that asks about stretching, zooming, etc. as this will be an issue when receiving picture from an off air antenna on your house when a TV station is airing an older, non-wide screen format TV show or movie.

TV signals provided by Cable TV or Satellite provider must be HDTV type signals. If you have the standard TV service (non-HD) no picture sent by them will ever fill the screen. This is because Standard Definition TV (SDTV) is not capable of those types of signals. You will have to bump up your subscription to HDTV service to get full screen pictures.

I hope this helps!

You could try

operatingguides.com

if you need a user manual
or

servicemanuals.co.uk

if you want the schematics etc

We've used them in the past and found them very good.

Also if it is not listed then ask via the link and they
will probably be able to get it for you.
