Question about Dishwashers

Open Question

Carlton Cs1w. Hi I have a Carlton slimline dishwasher. No problem with filling, heating and emptying. But if I set it to full programme it sticks. Starting with pan setting and letting run right through programme it just keeps sticking. On last programme timer moves ok for first 10 or so minutes then gets no further. Tried different settings, checked everything I can think of and cleaned added salt etc. Got given. Last owner only used a few times, moved house and no room for it. But was sitting unplugged for 8 months. I've used it for a year. Same problem then. But righted itself after a bit of trial and error. I don't have manual. Any ideas? Regards Angela

SOURCE: DISHES COVERED IN WHITE POWDER

To check on the source of the white powder (calcium?) soak some dishes in vinegar to see if this cleans them up nicely ... or if the 'white powder' is actually permanent etching. You may have very 'hard' water and will need to deal with that with a water softener or additives.

Read the following article for a better understanding and try the vinegar test . (also ensure you are using dishwasher specific salt to regenerate your integral softener... assuming you have one)

Aeg slimline dishwasher 64800. AL5 alarm, but fills up

This control procedure is in operation only during the cold wash and heating phases.
  • Once the pressure switch has closed in the "full" position, it must remain "full" until the subsequent drain phase; if the pressure switch signals "empty", the fill solenoid is activated for a period equivalent to the period of aperture of the pressure switch.
  • The maximum aperture time for the pressure switch (T) during the entire phase is 60 seconds; if this period is exceeded, an alarm condition is generated.
Alarm: AL5

Possible causes:
  1. Dishes upside down
  2. Central filter clogged
  3. Siphon effect created in drain hose
  4. Leakage in sump - pressure switch tube.

You will need to check the inlet valve and the water level pressure switch. It can also be a low pressure in the pump that is giving out the signal for the control board to shut off.
So first of all check the water line throughly to confirm.

Dishwasher fills with water, then empties, fills then empties, and repeats this cycle a few times - then decides to work. then part way through cycle - it repeats this frustrating cycle, making the whole...

Hi, Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water. To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.
Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

Furnace runs but will not blow heat. if i replace the batteries it blows heat for a sort time then cuts off

You have to set the hi and lo temp set so the control will have a range to cover. If the temps are set the same then there is no place for the control to run the furnace. It is like filling a hole with snow, when it is full you stop and when it empties you fill it again.

Neff s5946 slimline built in dishwasher. Fills with water, clonking sound in pipe and does not register on programme, although pump working.

if you only hear the clunking sound while the dishwasher is filling then the inlet valve is bad.. i would replace it because if it fails completely you could possibly have a flood..
