Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

I need to reconvert my dryer from liquid propane to natural gas. Do I need anything else other than the orifice? The dryer model number is 417-91142000. In the alternative, can you direct me to a website where I can download the owner's manual?

I know about the conversion kits from gas to propane. I want to know when changing back from porpane to gas if the ONLY thing need to change is the orifice or if the gas pressure needs to be changed, or if there are any other parts. Also the only manual available on the Sears site is a very simple owner's manual. I'm looking to find parts diagrams (that are regular size, not miniscule like those on Sears' website) and service instructions that detail how to do things. Thanks.

I have a older 40,000 BTU 3 burner natural gas deep fryer. I would like to convert to propane gas. The orifice number is size 32. Do I need to get different orifices to convert? The serial number is...

Hi there.

Burner orifice size for propane gas is number 55. You have to replace all burner orifice with this size if you want to use the fryer with propane gas. Pilot burner orifice should be replaced with propane pilot orifice. The gas valve spring should also be replaced with propane spring kit. The difference between the two spring is the natural gas spring is lighter or thinner compare with the propane gas valve spring.

Regards.

I bought a dcs fryer at a restaurant auction. I had it installed in my restaurant, and when I got it going flames were shooting out of the back. I had it looked at, but because there is no serial number...

The difference between Natural Gas Set Up and Propane Gas Set Up on Fryers are as follows:
Natural gas burner orifice has larger bore (#52) than Propane Gas burner orifice (#55 or #56).
Gas Valve's spring kit for natural gas has less tension (thinner) than Propane.
You have to order burner orifice ( the quantity depends on the number of burners your fryer has), pilot orifice and Gas Valve Spring Kit for Propane Gas if your fryer is set for Natural Gas or vice versa.

Regards.

How do I reconvert my Natural Gas BBQ BACK to LPG?

Hello,
You will need to replace the nat gas orifices with propane ones, as propane orifices have smaller holes than nat gas ones. If you can't find a conversion kit for your grill, take it to a local propane co and have them convert it for you. What I do is drill out the existing orifices on the grill and install a spud, then redrill the spud with the smaller hole for LP-Gas. Then you will need to buy a regulator and hose and a 20# propane cylinder, if you don't have one. You can get those things from the propane co too. Call around first and see if anyone can help you.

NOTE: If your grill data plate isn't marked with the BTU rating of each burner, look at the nat gas orifices and see if there is a number stamped on it. I can reference this number to tell you what BTU rating they are drilled for and use that to redrill for propane. If they are not stamped with a number, then I would use my nat gas orifice drills to gauge what hole size it is. Hopefully you can find a local propane co that carries these orifice drill kits and orifice spuds to get the job done. You didn't mention the grill brand or model #, so I can't help with specifics until I know what you have. I may be able to find a conversion kit online if I knew that info.

Do I need a part to convert my Maytag gas dryer/washer combo back from propane to Natural Gas?

Yes you can, but whether you should is another matter. I purchased a new dryer and needed it to be propane ready...you need to get the proper orifice (which lets the gas in to the burners) changed out. Natural gas orifice has a larger hole than a propane orifice. In addition, the regulator must be modified. It may involve flipping an insert under the cap (typical of stoves) or it may require conversion parts packed in the conversion kit (order one specific to your drier). This regulator is part of the piping within the back of the drier.

Incidentally, conversion orifice(s) should be included with the drier and screwed to the body in a clip. When you change it over and label the equipment as converted to propane, put the old natural gas orifice in the clip and screw it back onto the body. Put the instructions in a paper envelope and tape to the outside of the body of the drier.

Amana NDG2335AWW Gas dryer LP or Natural?

If there are no stickers indicating so, you will need to open up the dryer and measure the gas orifice. A propane orifice should be either a #54 or #58.

Need to adjust from L.P. to N.G.

Hello. no problem. to convert your appliance from liquid propane to natural gas you will need a set of appliance brand and model specific orifices that are for natural gas only. Contact your new natural gas provider and tell them your oven brand and model number. If they do not have the exact orifices you will need, they can order them for you and they may even come to your home, convert your oven and hook it up for you. Just ask.

Natural gas maytag dryer

You'll need a conversion kit for your model. Get your model number (inside door) and contact a parts place, local or online. It usually consists of an orifice & possibly a pressure regulator.
