The knob on the gas regulator cracked off and we are not able to get it off. Is there a special tool to get the regulator off, if not how do you replace the whole regulator and hose combination. There is not enough room to gain purchase enough to unscrew the hose.

Short of carefully using a pipe wrench, there's not much else you can do. Make sure the tank valve is fully OFF, before attempting removal. Once it's disconnected, you will need to purchase a new Hose/Regulator Assembly. They are not expensive and can be purchased at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. Take the old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

What is the life expectancy of a gas grill pressure regulator?

I've been in the propane business 28 years and have found regulators from the 1950's still in use today. Regulator manufacturers tell us they should be replaced after 25 years. It should typically outlast the grill itself, which often require new burners, cooking grids, etc. The hissing sound can just be the flow of gas thru the regulator. If you smell gas however, then you should replace it. If it is affecting the pressure to the burners and not getting hot enough to cook properly, then replace it as well.

Makita mac2400 compressor-The regulator knob now controls both gauges. The reg gauge is to the aluminum block, the tank gauge to one of the spare ports. I've tried swapping the tank line and the plug.

regulators should be connected to the outlet line of the compressor tank
the purpose of a regulator is to control ( regulate) ) the air pressure that is being supplied to what ever tool you are using from the tank pressure
so one gauge ( the one that reads up to 1000kpa or 120psi should be on the tank side and the lower reading gauge on the line to the tool

I have a UST 2 hp 10 gal compressor. It builds up

The leak may be a result of over pressurization, it sounds to me as though the regulator needs to be replaced.

Usually to convert the regulator you remove the knob in the center of the regulator by pushing it in and turning it. Then remove knob and flip it over and re install it there should be Nat and L.P. markings on the knob. Hope this helps.

My garage furnace won't turn on the igniter and even if I heat the heat sensor manually, it won't open gas. It has the Honeywell smart valve Sv9540 in it

If the gas valve has the brown round knob, then there is a little slide-out circuit board underneath when you remove the two special security bit screws, prone for bad solder connections. The solder cracks right where the plugs attach. If it does not have the brown knob, it sounds like bad gas valve.

Have you adjusted the pressure regulator knob for air flow? If so, the regulator may be plugged. Clockwise increases line pressure.

No air on tools side

Hi, Between the two gauges is the regulator adjusting knob. Turn this until you see the pressure rise on the tool side gauge. You can also test for a rise in pressure in the air hose by connecting a blow gun, and pressing the trigger as you make adjustments. If you cannot raise the pressure with the regulator, it is probably bad.

Humming noise

1st. Are the humming evident when the flame ain't burning? Listen carefully. The control(knob) consists of a valve that regulate the supply of gas to the burner. Check each knob(valve) individually for noise. If noise is evident on the knob(valve) contact your dealer for service or replacement of valve.
2nd. Check the gas regulator. That will be the unit that is exiting the gas bottle. Noise might be evident from the regulator due to the gas being controlled. If excessive noise is evident. Service or replacement of the unit might be necessary.
