Question about HP Officejet Pro L7480 All-in-One Multifunction Inkjet

3 Answers

HP OFFICEJET PRO L7480 (All in One) problem with the paper feeding. I tried all the usual things (resetting, cleaning rollers, etc.) It seems like it is mainly a problem with the FIRST paper, which the printer tries to grap. It never gets into the printer, which results in the "out of paper error". Repeating the printing order several times might reach the goal, but mostly i have to help manually and move the paper forward myself. Interestingly, once the first paper is in printing process, the other papers will be fed almost without problems (if there is more than 1 page to print). The Problem is probably with the one (first) roller which moves down, Once it souches the paper it does not spinn early enough, long enough or whatever. I dont know if it is a hard- or software issue. One Expert told me to remove the spring, which i did, but it had not effect, still the same. Also he mentioned the plastic gears, but they seem not to be damaged. He also said to "Check also the mechanical timing of the roller. if you can unlatch the tension spring / lock to make the rubber roller moves freely, do it....position the rubber that grabs the paper, try 90 or 180 degrees from its previous location. " ... i did not understand this, cauze everything seems unmovable with the first roller coming down (except for the spring) I asked the expert for furhter instructions, but there was no answer

Hi

Please try this manual resetting of error.

Remove the USB cable into the printer and leave the printer on.
Remove all the cartridges.
Close the cartridge door and wait for the INSERT INK MESSAGE to appear.
Disconnect the power cable and from the power source supply.
Now open again the printer door. Move the carriage using your hand from the original position to the other side of the printer and then move it back to original position. Wait for couple of minutes
Reconnect power cord and turn on the printer.
Return all the ink cartridges and close the door. Wait for the calibration process.
Print the test page to check if it working.
Reconnect the USB cable and try to print again.

If still the same, try to restart again the PRINT SPOOLER SERVICE.Here is the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8758623-check_fix_print_spooler_service_causes

Hello.

From HP Support:

Step one: Reset the product

  1. Without turning the product off, remove the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and then plug the power cord into the back of the product.
  3. If the product is not already on, use the On button to turn it on.
Step two: Check the condition of the paper and reload it
  1. Replace any paper that is ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent.
NOTE: Use only plain, white, unused paper in the product until the issue is resolved.
  2. Make sure that all the paper is the same size and type. Because only one type of paper can be used in the product at a time, paper types should never be mixed.
  3. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges.
  4. Make sure that the stack of paper to be loaded in the product contains no fewer than 10 and no more than 25 sheets of paper.
NOTE: Do not load too much paper in the product.
  5. Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper. Make sure that the paper is completely inserted into the product and can be picked up by the paper rollers.
  6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, try loading different brands of paper and different types of paper, one type at a time, into the product and then try printing again. If the issue persists, continue with the next step.
Step three: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper trays.
  1. Open a document in the program being used to print.
  2. Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The product Properties dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. Choose the appropriate paper size from the Size is drop-down menu.
  5. Choose the appropriate paper type from the Type is drop-down menu.
  6. Click OK and then click OK again to print the document..
  7. If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next step.

NOTE: If the issue is resolved and it is necessary to print on another type of paper, load the new paper type into the product and then repeat steps 2 through 7 for the new paper. These changes do not change the default print settings. The print settings return to the default the next time the program is opened.
Cause Any of the following issues can cause the error message to appear:
  • The paper trays are empty or overloaded.
  • The paper is curled.
  • The print side, or shiny side, of the paper is not loaded in the input tray face down.
  • The paper might not be engaged with the feed rollers.
  • The paper-width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly.
  • The paper tray is not completely inserted into the product.
  • The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • The rubber paper-feed rollers are coated with dust.

  • Hope these suggestions help.

My hp officejet pro k8600 won't print straight.

When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or stickyrollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces ofpaper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper tonot feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

the problem in your printer could be the plastic gear attach to the end of the rubber roller that grabs the paper. Look closely and see which gear's teeth is broken or already worn out. This cause the delay in the timing of the rotation of the roller.
Check also the mechanical timing of the roller. if you can unlatch the tension spring / lock to make the rubber roller moves freely, do it....position the rubber that grabs the paper, try 90 or 180 degrees from its previous location.
Hope this helps!

Hi

If it attempts to feed and expecially when you hear a cricking sound. It means that the paper guide it too tighten that it holds the paper. Try to loose up the paper tray guide. Are you using a paper tray. If not, put small paper or change the correct setting of the paper size setting to auto detect if any.

The try to print again.

Hp Officejet L7480 false paper jam message. Resetting the printer has no effect.

Hp paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Says there is a paper jam but there isnt - have looked and looked - can I overide it?

Possible problems:
- Tiny paper or something is stuck in your printer.
- Your printer roller may have dirt on it.

Solutions:
-There may be a very tiny bit of paper stuck somewhere - look very carefully. Also, open all areas and then close them - sometimes a printer has to have that before it resets from a jam. Check your paper to see if it is being grabbed by the rollers. if they are dirty or worn, the paper will not catch and the printer thinks it is jammed. wipe the rollers with a bit of alcohol on a paper towel (barely damp) if that is the case.

HP Office jet Pro L7380 will not pick up paper

Paper feed problems are very common with HP officejet printers but don't panic...

Few things to try..
1. Check that when the printer tries to feed paper the wheel is dropping down and making contact with the paper.

2. Make sure you have not set the paper guides so the paper is too tightly held... try loosening them

3. Watch this little video on how to fan-apart paper and try doing this to get some air in between the paper sheets.. This often resolves many of the problems.

4. Try changing the paper for something a bit coarser or even cheaper as HP printers can be a bit "Fussy" about the paper they will feed best...

Hope that helps...
