Have a MAYTAG Mod MDB7601AWQ Dishwasher which is giving me the same trouble as perhaps 5 weeks ago. At that time I found the service paperwork under the door and did the field service test. Upon touching the start/cancel button the dishwasher started working and has continued doing well until the other day. Very same symptoms as before...select wash cycle, a number 4 flashes continuously and start does not do anything at all. I did the same thing as in the past....select "Auto Clean", depress and release "Heated Dry" 6 times, touch start/cancel and the number 4 flashes until it all shuts down several seconds later. On other wash cycles other numbers will flash on and off, such as 1 or 2. What could be wrong, please??

call any place that services maytag appliances, and tell them the problem. they should be able to tell you whats causeing this. good-day !

I have very briefly researched the device and find it isn't really a forecaster but a device that receives weather reports and sorts them but it isn't made clear how it accesses those Accuweather reports that are available by smartphone app or internet.
I speculate the device must either use any wireless local area network or it must access the mobile telephone network, which makes little sense as it is supposed to be a free service and mobile internet service providers usually wouldn't give anyone free access.

Perhaps the answer will be found in the device instruction manual.

If it is supposed to work through free access to the mobile telephone network, perhaps the cause is the service providers are flexing their muscles. There was some feeling a few years ago the Accuweather reports should be removed from the public domain and perhaps this is the beginning of a resurgence of that feeling.

Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new...

However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad...

So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working...

Well Kathy, you may be in luck. There has been a safety recall on your model of dishwasher and Maytag will give you a considerable allowance to replace with another Maytag. You may contact them at 1-800-544-5513 with your model and serial number and they will give you instructions on how to obtain your new dishwasher at a deeply discounted rate and all the details.

I bought and replaced the control board in the door. $145 CAD it took 5 min saved myself $300

For what you pay for dishwashers its normally better to replace them

Replace the dock at the back if it is missing a piece. That solved my problem with the top rack not getting clean.

Your question is your Maytag is less than a year old in a new home. Your folks have a dishwasher either the same or similar and it dries the dishes and doesn't leave water on them. Our dishwasher leaves water on it like the dishwashers from when I was a kid. Lots of water and spots and have to basically prewash all my dishes. It there something I can do or should I try to find all the paperwork?

First try 'jetdry'. Then call for warranty repair. Your d/w should still be under warranty.
