Question about Plantronics CS55 Wireless Headset

2 Answers

The caller hears our receptionists clearly, but when they speak to the receptionist from their desk phone, there is a loud echo heard by the caller. We just purchased two CS55 wireless headsets for our receptionists who sit next to each other. The hands free feature is wonderful. We tried to follow the instructions with the manual with no success. Receptionists are using CISCO VoIP 7970 series phones. Does wireless or other frequency devices cause issues? Both receptionists also have hand held walkie talkies charging in the same space. We are about to return the devices, but I wanted to give this one last try. Thanks.

Thank you for your response. I confirmed that the walkie talkies are on channel 1. I will return to the environment, and see what happens.

I am adding one device at a time to determine "when" the interference happens. I will let you know.

Please remove the walkie talkies and charging stations from the area and see if the issue still exists if not we can work from there but that will defiantly cause interference.

Hi! Yes, wireless devices can cause interference on other wireless devices. The devices are normally defaulted to channel 6 (as are wireless routers). If you have the ability to change channels on these devices, change the channels to 1 or 11. also if you have the transceivers too close to the phones themselves, this can also cause interference and that echo you are hearing. Good luck.

You may want to play with the channels on all of the wireless devices and also if at all possible try to put some distance between the different devices. Also, I don't know if you've attempted this yet , echo is usually caused by the by the transmit (speak) level on the unit being set too high. Try lowering it and see if that helps.

Cs540 caller hears echo

Hello, if they are hearing echo, you are speaking too loud. Or have the receiver too close and talking too loud. Or the person on the other end of the line has phone line problems.

What phone system is the 7130 attached to? Panasonic makes a TVA voice mail system that interfaces to a TA-624 or higher model that will give you individual mailboxes and a means to transfer calls to them.

Street price of a new TVA-50 is in the $600 range, but you can find an older TVS50 for less.

How do I set phone to ring at my extention?

Partner, all releases.
Examples
Receptionist Call Routing. If you want calls to be answered by the receptionist first, set the lines at the receptionist’s extension to Immediate Ring and the lines at the users’ extensions to No Ring. (This is the factory setting)
Receptionist Backup. If you want all calls on a line to ring directly at users’ extensions -with the receptionist providing backup -set the line at the users’ extensions to Immediate Ring. Then set the line (or lines) at the receptionist’s extension to Delayed Ring. An incoming call that is not answered by a user within 20 seconds will also ring at the receptionist’s extension.
Programming
To change the way outside lines or pools ring at an extension:
  1. Press [ Feature ] [ 0 ] [ 0 ] [ System Program ] [ System Program ] [ Central Tel Program ].
  2. Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Line Ringing. The green lights next to the line or pool buttons on the phone show the current Line Ringing settings for all lines assigned to the extension. (If a line is not assigned to a button, the green light next to the button is off.) The following ringing options can be shown by the green light next to the line button.
    • Immediate Ring - on steady
    • Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
    • No Ring - flutters quickly
  3. To change Line Ringing for any line, press the line or pool button until the button light shows the correct setting (the setting for the currently selected line or pool also appears on the display).
  4. Continue programming or exit programming mode.

Change Auto Attendant message to Rollover Calls to Ext. 10 and 15

**use with care ** if it is a "Partner System" here you go. if unsure do not do this. it is simple but one wrong keypress will cause ... mmm problems. so just hang up if unsure. dial intercom 777 , then * to get main greeting, if ok then * again then enter extesion should be prompted. press 0 # then password , default is 12345678 #. if it is good dial 9 (administration) then 3 (auto attendant) then 1 , 1, 6, * , # then 1 to record and follow prompts.

Help answering calls during peak call times

Yes you need the PC ASA card and not ASX,

Example: to speak to a live person dial 72 and the zero time out option sends it back to reception and it will place it on hold,

reception would need to activate a programmable button ASA button when experiencing high volume calls,

If nobody picks up it will revert to the reception or zero time out attendant with another greeting depending on what type of avaya voice mail you have?

If you have R5 vs mail or Partner mail and not a PC mail some tricks can be done.

This may not solve your answer and ring delay on day or night mode needs to be looked at.

The reality is you can delay the callers ability to get to a live person for a minute or so if they choose to hang out without a ASA card.

Send them to an unused ex port and assign the port to automated attendant two. Depending on you VM we can have up to 5 AA's and greetings.

The fact is if your receptionist can't place the call on hold with a music on hold greeting that says's Bla Bla Bla and more nice stuff and stay on the line we will be with you shortly then you need to hire a new receptionist.

Call receptionist and dont get busy signal

You need to dial two commands on the receptionist's phone. On the intercom dial 7311# for outside line call waiting signals and 7321# for inside calls. (0 cancels).
