SOURCE: Dishwasher will not spray water from arms

Check for utensils or pot handles that may be hanging below the bottom rack and interfering with motion of spray head.
Clean holes with toothpick.
Check temperature at hot water faucet with meat thermometer. If below 120°F (49°C), turn up thermostat on hot water heater.

The illusive technical repair sheet that isn't there...

Turn the thing a little further and pull UP. It'll come out. You've got to put some muscle into it!

The manual for the GU1000/1200/1500 is here (it's almost the same and as close as I can get you to a 3200)

SOURCE: How to remove upper spray arm of Maytag DWU 9200 BBE dishwasher

There is a plastic clip that holds the spray arm to the inlet line. This clip is in the center and has to be sqeazed together to release the arm.

Both upper and lower spray arms become clogged by different objects like paper, plastic, stems from fruits, etc... These are particles that cannot br dissolved be the detergents.

SOURCE: Maytag portable dishwasher, dish racks are very rusted in 2 years

This is Maytags solution

Do the dishwasher racks have chips or scratches showing exposed metal underneath?
If minor rack repairs are needed, a dishwasher rack repair kit just might work. To review this product or purchase the kit, click here.
Should you purchase the kit online, enter Promo Code F9A75Q4 in the Review Order screen when you check out to receive a 10% discount on your order.
For more severe rack damage, a replacement rack may need to be purchased; call the Maytag Customer eXperience Center toll-free at 1-866-616-2601, Monday-Friday, 8AM-6PM, Eastern Time.

I would call the toll free number and see if a free replacement is available. If not at least try to get a big discount on replacing them.

Good luck and thanks for using Fix Ya, please take the time to rate this solution (from Fix Ya, not Maytag, I didn't like their solution).

SOURCE: Spray Arm Doesn't Move on my GSD5630d01ww!

When you say the dishwasher is running do you mean that the pump is operating?  If the pump is not pumping water the arm will not spin.  Is there a bottom arm and is it spinning?  If it spins then the pump is working. The upper arm will not spin if it is blocked by hitting a large dish or utensil.  There should be some sort of tube or tower (some are collapsible) in the center of the lower rack that shoots water into the bottom of the spin arm above.   Is it missing, blocked or clogged?

Hi I have a Blanco dishwasher BFDw8 which is having poor wash results in the top tray I have tried all the trouble shooting things in manual. Investigated further by opening door during wash cycle several...

  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
Scrape away large pieces of food, bones, pits, toothpicks, etc. Burned on food should be loosened before loading. Empty liquids from glasses and cups. Foods such as mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice and tomato products may cause discoloration of stainless steel and plastics if allowed to sit for a long period of time. Unless the dishwasher is to be operated at once, it is best to rinse off these food soils. Load racks so that large items do not prevent the detergent dispenser from opening. If the dishwasher drains into a food disposer, be sure disposer is completely empty before starting the dishwasher.

Dishwasher Maintenance

Your dishwasher is one of the most used appliances in your kitchen.
No matter what dishwasher model you have, you need to give some thought to giving it regular maintenance. Dishwasher cleaning is one of the things that many people wonder about. The best dishwasher is the one that is kept in good running order by keeping it in top working condition.

If your dishwasher is used regularly you really do not need to clean a dishwasher. Dishwasher cleaning is only needed if you do not use it for a week or more and it begins to smell bad inside. Other wise the only cleaning needed is to keep food particles and waste from building up inside. Some dishwasher can discharge larger particles then others. If you have one that does not do well in this area, then you need to remove the leftover food often. A paper towels works very well to do this. There are commercial dishwasher cleaners that you can run through your dishwasher, to make it clean and smell nice again if you have not used it for a long time.

If you are noticing that your dishes are not being cleaned properly, it may be because you are not getting enough water in the dishwasher. The water inlet valve is what allows the water to flow into you dishwasher. This valve will wear over time and then not allow the water to enter properly. This valve is located right behind the kick panel, and is a very easy replacement for most handyman type people. It is recommended that this valve be replaced as a preventative measure, every three to seven years.

Check the racks in your dishwasher for places that the plastic coating has worn off. When this happens the rack will rust and can stain what is being washed. There are repair kits available to repair the coatings on your racks. If you sand the rust off of the racks first the repair will stack better and last longer.

The spray arms inside your dishwasher can also become clogged. Bits of food, paper, and other things can become stuck in the small holes. Take the time to remove these and clean out all of the little holes. This will allow the pump to move more water and also ensure that you get a good spray pattern again to give you the best cleaning possible.
If you find glass in the spray arms, you should also remove and disassemble the pump. Check it for damage from the glass. Glass can damage the seals in the pump. If left too long it will cause the pump seals to leak. If you have a leak at your pump, it may have been caused by glass.

On some dishwashers there is a filter before the pump. This is located under the lower spray arm, near the bottom of the dishwasher. Clean this filter often and if it becomes damaged replace it to protect your pump. If you do not know how to clean it, check your owner’s manual to see how to do it properly.

These things will help your dishwasher to work well and give you great service for a long time. If you provide service to your dishwasher you will also be assured that you are getting the best performance from your dishwasher also.

Soap

1. You have poor pressure coming from the pump. fix this by removing the racks from dishwasher and removing/cleaning the intake filter to the pump. It is located on the floor of the dishwasher. Use a wet vac if you have it to clean the entire area and anything that might be stuck down in the pump. you would be suprised what you find doen there. Don't be afraid to remove a few phillips screws to remove a cover to the impeller. After this all should work better/cleaner AND soap dish will be washed out too.

2. make sure dishes are not stacked to block the soap dish from water spray arms.

3. remove spray arms and clean them out, especially the spray tips. Hard objects will stick in their spray tips.

Good Luck

Maytag jetclean eq plus dishwasher: soap problem

This could be due to 2 problems: not enough water or water is not being pumped hard enough through the system. The 'not enough water' is easy to check - open the door in the middle of a wash cycle. If you have enough water (about 1" or more) then that is probably ok. The 'not pumping hard enough' could be as simple as plugged up filters and holes in the spray arms. Remove the racks and disassemble the lower spray arm and the filter assembly all the way down past the screen. Clean the arm holes, throughly clean the screen, clean everything. Pull the top spray arm and throughly clean the spray holes there. Put it all together and run a cycle. You should see a pronounced increase in the sound of the water spraying around. This should fix your problem - it did for me.

Rusty racks

Check your warranty to see if it covers your racks. Some models have a longer warranty against rack rusting if you have Duraguard racks. If they are Dura guard racks and still under warranty, Maytag will replace them at no charge.

Rusty dish rack

Clearly a design or manufacturing flaw. I have the same model and the rack is disintegrating after 6 years. I believe it is a manufacturing flaw. Our previous dishwasher rack lasted over 20 years in the same conditions. Same construction, vinyl covered steel. New upper and lower racks cost over 200.00 and there is no guarantee that this won't happen every six years. I recommend a new non-Maytag dishwasher as soon as you can. Meanwhile, limp along with the defective racks.
