We had a similar problem. It ended up being a frozen pea that fell down into the defrost drain and was blocking the water from draining out each time the freezer defrosted.

Here I am going to give you a lot of information. Because of the leaking your defrost condensate drain is most likely the reason. All on the page below may not be for your situation and some refrigerators do this over a period of time and the the water has no were to go but the freezer during defrost. HOW TO FIX A LEAKING REFRIGERATOR OR FREEZER

Testimonial: "Thanks Sea Breeze! The photos do show a bit of a different arrangement than what is on the back of my fridge but I'll try what you suggested."
Your drain line is clogged, that is located behind the white wall inside of the freezer. The water comes from defrost cycle, that happens every 8-12 hours. You need to defrost it and snake it.

I have the same problem. After openeing the back panel from inside, I noticed a big ice in the drain. I removed it but pouring hot water spills the water out of the freezer and on the floor. Should I continue doing this until the drain opens up? If so, where does the water deposits? Is there a bowl or something that I need to empty out? Here is the picture of inside the back panel:
