Question about EDGE Tech Corp Edge 500GB DISKGO 2.5in. BACKUP ULTRA PORTABLE USB 2.0 HARD DRIVE
Try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use this file recovery program called asoftech data recovery to recover your files.

If it shows up in 'My Computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you just can't access it,I would first try to recover the data on it with a data recovery program to avoid losing them.
I have succeed with Tenorshare Data Recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash and drive 'not recognized' issue.
You can get it here: http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm
If the hard drive can't be detected, you can try this way.Put the hdd in a zip-lock bag and put it in the freezer overnight. Then while it's still cold plug it into the computer and you may be able to view it in 'my computer'. And run the recovery program to recover your data on it.
If it fails, you will have to go to a recovery office but let's hope not because it will cost you a lot of money and whether they can recover the data or not is not guarantee.
This article will help.
