Question about HTC mteor
Wow, an oldie but a goodie! A.k.a: Qtek 8600 / Dopod 595 / Orange SPV C700 / i-mate SP JAS
I am in the mood to try to take this problem down...hard...LOL!
I can't be sure of the state your computer and phone are in so I will give you the complete, top-down list:
Clean up and start fresh:
First, disconnect your phone from the computer.
On your computer:
Google "Mobile Device Center" and make sure you have the latest version installed and reboot.
Make sure that you have the correct Outlook profile configured:
Open Control Panel > Mail
Select E-mail Accounts...
The tab 'E-mail' displays your profiles
You need to make sure that the profile you want is set as the default.
If you have other profiles you don't use, delete them so they don't "confuse" things
Open Outlook and make sure that it works and does not prompt you for a password.
Now open Control Panel > Sync Center and delete any instances you see for your MTeor device.
On your phone: Open ActiveSync and delete any partnerships you see. You may have to dig a little, I am rusty on this platform.
Now you are ready to plug the phone back into your computer and cross your fingers. MDC should recognize the device and prompt you to configure sync settings which include Outlook.
Here is the MDC Step-By-Step Guide:
Here is the best resource, I know of, for your device.
It is free to join and you may find more expertise there than I can provide.
Some devices can be upgraded to newer versions of Windows Mobile. It might be that the WM version is too old to work with your version of Outlook. However, "ROM" upgrades are very risky and could turn your phone into a useless brick.
If all this fails replace the phone. eBay is a great resource for contract-free phones. Consider the iPhone. My 3GS syncs perfectly with Outlook and all my media.
