Re: Kenmore 54501 dehumidifier. Both fan and compressor sound as though they are turning on, but no water is evaporated into the water bucket. The unit had always operated properly during past seasons, but is not working this year.

It sounds like you have power to the unit but a component is failing to start the system get an AC tech to check it.

Normal 0 When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

The compressor is located in the rear bottom on the right side looking at the machine. After you press the start button and the blower fan comes on, bend over near the back of the unit and listen for the "click".
