Mike,My wife is having trouble with a Brother AX-100 typewriter that does not type the letter being struck on the keypad. We don't know how to RESET this model - There is no "CODE" key available, as

The printwheel may be in wrong. Unsnap the printwheel, set it back in and make sure the pin seats in the printwheel when you snap it in. It should spin when you turn the power on.
Or.... it cound be the print hammer solenoid which strikes the hammer to print is cracked and not working correctly (this should be done by a qualified tech)
Hope this helps...

When typing, the letters are not showing up well unless it is on double strike. have take printwheel out and changed ribbon but still not striking paper well.

The problem may be the ribbon or the media you are typing on. try typing on a mulit part form, if the copies are good then its the ribbon (OLD) or the paper (GLOSSY).

The part that strikes the daisy wheel keeps pushing forward and jamming the daisy wheel

Printwheel in wrong. release the printwheel, make sure the pin is aligned with the slot on the hub and snap it back in. The printwheel should spin, then home out to the left margin, then it should be ok. If not try it again.Check to make sure no pedals on the printwheel are bent.
Hopes this helps!

The printwheel is not striking the ribbon- it seems to be seated correctly, but the ribbon is too low for the printwheel- what do I need to do?

On the Right side of the printer is a large black gear, wiggle it back and forth it should move freely. If not thet get tooth for tooth with the motor gear. you might also try a little WD40 on those bearings.

"Hammer" won't strike; printwheel won't turn; code key not workin

It sounds like the print solenoid cap is broken except for the printwheel not spinning. the caps are available for 20.00 including shipping and instructoins. The code not working may be a keyboard for a keyboard rebuild contact Geo. Beyers Co. @800-392-8085.

Characters do not print.

The plastic cap on the print solenoid plunger is probably broken they are available but a little tricky to install.

What do I do when I strike one letter and another is printed?

First make sure that the the pitch selector on the keyboard is set to the correct pitch for the printwheel , if there is a pitch selector on this typewriter. Also try taking out and reinstalling the printwheel then turn the typewriter off and back on so it can rehome the printwheel.

Typewriter won't type letters

HI.. the hammer solenoid may be faulty..it should make a typing sound when you hit a key.( the printhammer moved and strikes the printwheel) or when you changed ribbons you might have unlatched the printwheel..there is a lever you press to relatch it until it "clicks"
If not that then make sure the ribbon is seated correctly, that it is between the printwheel and the black roller. Also visually inspect the ribbon so it is not caught in the printwheel.

Is the hammer striking the paper? What letters print when you press a key? Can you determine if the printwheel is turning?
