Okay please LOOK. We are having paper jam problems with a canon ipf 8100 printer. This is a wide format high quality printer. It prints from rolls NOT SHEETS. This is NOT a desktop inkjet junk. I have tried different vacuume settings and it does not help. The paper NOT SHEET. Jams at the print heads at the beginning of a print cycle. The paper looks like it puckers up.

Hello.

Try updating the driver and firmware:

?Go to: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/office/imageprograf_series/imageprograf_ipf8100/imageprograf_ipf8100#DriversAndSoftware

Choose your operating system, then select the "Drivers & Download" tab. Then choose the desired file for download.
?Once the update files are downloaded, decompress the files with a file decompression utility (some files are self-extracting files that do not require a separate utility), and extract them to a folder that can be identified later (easiest would be on desktop). Open the folder that was created, and double click on setup.exe to start the update, and follow the screen instructions.

Hope this helps.

What model printer is it?
Follow these steps , first portion applies to both Inkjet and laser printers. The rest pertains to laser printers.

Paper jams

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers . The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

Metal Tab Separation- Pull out your paper tray and examine either end where the paper sits in. If any of the corners are held down by metal tabs, this is your paper feed system. Chances are, you only have one rubber roller or one set of rollers arranged along side of each other. Reach in where the tray goes and feel up. You should feel some rollers. They might be completely round, or they might be shaped like a half moon. Clean whichever part of them you can with the solution, and this should stop your paper jams. It might be necessary to turn them, but don't force them if they don't move freely.

Pickup Roller and Separation Pad-

If your printer uses this paper feed system, you should see a small piece of flat or slightly curved rubber or cork. It would be towards the end of the paper tray, or deep inside the paper loading cavity on top loaders. This 'separation pad' rubs against the paper feed roller, so if you find the pad, you've found the roller. Clean it and your jams should stop.

Three Roller Paper Separation System- Pull your paper tray out, and look for a roller on either end of it. If you find one, clean it. Then look inside the printer where that roller would rest with the paper tray inserted. You'll find another paper roller there. Clean this one also. Finally, look further back or closer to the front of your printer (depending on which way your paper feeds) to find another roller or set of rollers. Clean all of these, and your paper jams will go away

Also, if the paper jams in the rear of the unit, assuming that it is a laser printer, then your fuser is probably not reaching operatinting temp. and needs to be replaced.

Welcome to Fixya

There is something stucked in the roller feed or some feed wheel is out of place. That means you need to take apart the printer what is causing the problem. If you don't feel you are capable, Take it to the pro! If the printer was under $50.00 it would be cheaper to get a new one. if it is brand new it would be "under warranty".

Thank you for using Fixya!

Hi,

Remove the stack of paper and make sure the paper is not curled or creased. The paper is not too old. Check the number of sheets in the paper stack does not exceed the limit specified for that media. The paper is not loaded above the arrow on the edge guide. After trying the solutions above, load the paper again. If you cannot remove a foreign object easily by yourself, do not use force and do not disassemble the printer. Call your dealer for assistance.

If your paper jams frequently, make sure of the following .The paper is smooth, not curled or wrinkled. The paper is of high quality, loaded with the printable side up. The paper stack was fanned before loading. You did not mention which printer you have. Given bellow are official sites for your information to clear paper jam:-

My Lexmark 4600 printer has a paper jam. do not know how to unjam it.

Hi,

How to clear and avoid paper jams
Follow these instructions to remove and/or avoid paper jams and misfeeds in your Lexmark X3500, X4500, X4600 & X4800 Series All-In-One.
Paper jam in the printer
Remove the paper manually

  1. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn off the printer.

  2. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it out.

  3. Press pattlnk_10282008_1820-power-icon.gif to turn the printer back on.

NOTE: Check inside the printer to ensure that all the paper is removed. Any small pieces of paper left in the printer will continue to cause paper jams.

Paper or specialty media misfeeds
These are possible solutions if paper or specialty media misfeeds or skews, or if multiple sheets feed or stick together.
Try one or more of the following:
Check paper condition

  • Use only new, unwrinkled paper.

Check paper loading

  • Load a smaller amount of paper into the printer.

  • Load paper with the print side facing you. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side, see the instructions that came with the paper.)

Remove each page as it is printed

  • Remove each page as it exits, and let it dry completely before stacking.

Adjust the paper guides

  • When using media less than 8.5 inches wide

  • To rest against the edges of the paper or media, making sure it does not buckle
    pattlnk_10282008_1826-untitled-1.gif

Printer does not feed paper, envelopes, or specialty media
These are possible solutions. Try one or more of the following:
Check for paper jams

  • Check for and clear any paper jams. For more information, see "Paper jam in the printer" and "Paper jam in the paper support" above.

Check media loading

  • Verify that the specialty media is loaded correctly.

  • Try loading one page, envelope, or sheet of specialty media at a time.

TALLY GENICOM 2280+ HARWARE ALARM CODE +0016 +131

Unfortunatly not enough of the Hardware Alarm Task Number is included in the description to identify the most likely cause of the problem but some things you can check are;

  • Remove the ribbon from the printer, ensure this is not jammed or damaged
  • Power the printer OFF and try manually sliding the print head from side to side, look out for any objects which may obstruct the movement of the print head (pen lids etc!)
  • Ensure the print head gap is not set to close to the paper, thus jamming the print head
  • Remove the paper to ensure the paper is not restricting print head movement.
  • Clean the Optical Timing Strip that runs under the print head, ensure this is not damaged also.
  • Clean the carriage shaft, this should be FREE from any lubricants WD40 etc and dry running. Remove build up of paper dust etc.

Had paper jammed - removed jammed paper - but nerror light still on

Before you can clear a "PAPER JAM" or "PRINTER JAM" error, you must locate where in the unit the paper is jammed.
First, unplug the machine for safety and disconnect the telephone line. Next, follow these instructions based on where the paper jam is located.

Paper is jammed inside the paper tray:
    1. Pull the paper tray out of the machine.
    3-ug-1621.gif
    1. Pull out the jammed paper to remove it.
    3-ug-1732.gif
    1. Reload the paper in the paper tray.

    2. Reinstall the paper tray.

Paper is jammed inside the machine:

    1. Remove the jam clear cover on the back of the unit. Pull the jammed paper out of the machine.

    1. Re-insert the jam clear cover.

    2. If you can not pull out the jammed paper, lift the scanner cover from the right-hand side of the machine until it locks securely into the open position.

    3. Remove the jammed paper.

      3-ug-2033.gif

    4. Check the print head's position. In the example photo the print head is positioned at the left hand side of the platen area.

    5. Gently move the print head to the center.

      scr2.jpg

Note Be careful to not force the print head to move.
If the print head is positioned at the far right hand side, you cannot move it. Please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".

    6. Examine under the print head. If anything is found, remove it.

      scr3.jpg

Note Use a flashlight if necessary to check thoroughly.

    7. Lift the scanner cover to release the lock. Gently push the scanner cover support down and close the scanner cover.

      3-ug-21.gif

    8. Reconnect the power cord and telephone line.

Note To prevent paper jams, do not put multiple kinds of paper in the paper tray at the same time.

If the message continues to appear on the LCD, the machine will require repair. Please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".

A piece of foam sponge under the ink catridges has broken, and the printer will not cleanly draw paper for printing - it jams.

The sponge under the print cartridges is to soak up the ink when cleaning the print heads. If part of it broken off and lodged in the rollers where the paper is drawn into the printer then try to locate the sponge and remove it. Sounds like it's lodged somewhere and jamming the paper feed.

    Paper jam

    Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

The "!" light is flashing; two of the print heads are flashing; I send a drawing to be printed; and nothing happens.

The flashing lights signal an error. If the printer started printing, please check for jammed paper. If it has not started to print, please remove the ink cartridges and then put them on again. They might just failed to be charged by the printer unit.

Xerox Phaser 8400 Error code 07,010.43:99907

You manually rotated the aluminum drum? Since you did that, I would suspect you have the print head wiper blade stuck between the drum and print head. The code you are getting it caused by the print head not being able to move freely.
The jamming is probably due to a bad registration clutch. Common failure on that machine.
You can go to Xerox.com, there is under documentation and drivers a parts list for that machine. You can reference the wiper blade and get the clutch part number there.
Let me know what other information you may need. I will be glad to help you get it running again.

Kodak ESP-3 Printer Red Flashing Light

    Couple of things.
    1. Look inside the printer by the print head. On one side you should see a felt pad of some sort. Make sure this has not come loose. If it has, it can block the path of the print head and will read paper jam. I have seen this mostly with the ESP 5, but I suppose the same could happen with the 3.

    2. This way is kind of long but will clear a lot of problems. Open the top of the printer and remove both cartridges and the print head. Unplug the power supply and close the printer. Wait about 30 seconds. Now plug the power back in and wait until the printer stops moving inside. Open the printer and instal just the print head. Unplug and wait 30 seconds. Repeat this procedure with installing the black, then the color. Make sure you unplug for 30 seconds and wait for the internal parts to stop moving between each step. his should fix everything. It has worked for me several times. These really are a decent printer, just a little glitchy sometimes.

    3. Make sure a paper has not gotten wadded up and is hidden inside to the left or right of the print head. I have seen this twice in the ESP 3.

    Hope this helps.

    Paper jam

    For this and any other print jam problems try this;
Open the scan bed tray and push down the button at the front (scan bed tray open switch)
I found if your print jam occurs and you go through this procedure, the jam clears itself.
With the tray still up and switch held down, try and print something.
See how far the paper goes through the print cycle before jamming. If it jams when it reaches the print head...clean under the print head and try again.

    Hope this helps
