The letters on my keyboard doesn't work

Dust the keyboard to remove any debris.
If that doesn't work, re-seat the keyboard. This requires disassembling much of the laptop. www.ifixit.com has great guides on how to complete this for every model of mac laptop.

When you press some letters in the keyboard it writes different characters and leters

I'm not sure how to tell you to correct the problem but the same thing happened to me and really messed with my head until I found out that there are several setting for different languages. The keys apparently mean something different from our language. Go in and reset your keyboard . Some have a drop down box that will let you choose your language. I wish I could tell how to correct it but I don't know what kind of computer is. The Control panel should a place about keyboards and let you change it there.

Durabook keyboard displays wrong characters

Either a virus has hijacked your keyboard or your keyboard's cable is not connected snuggly or your keyboard is going bad. First off I would do another system restore that is before the last one you did and see how the keyboard responds. If it is still not right, Run a scan to make sure you don't have viruses. To check the keyboard cable requires you to remove it and the cable is attached to the back of the keyboard and fits into a slot on the motherboard.

Why big letter l in my keyboard doesn't work?

If you haven't spilled anything on your keyboard, then this is probably a manufacturing defect that Apple should fix under warranty if it's still under warranty.

If it isn't under warranty any longer, you'll most likely have to pay for a repair by Apple.

The letter Z key is not responding. I don't know how to fix it

Although having a laptop is certainly convenient, the all-in-one peripheral scheme (mouse, keyboard and speakers) can make individual repairs difficult, and a non-working keyboard can ruin the value of the entire package. However, there are some practical steps you can take to fix a laptop keyboard.

1.Diagnose the problem. When you press a key on your laptop keyboard, does it get stuck? Does the computer respond to your inputs? In almost all of these cases, the solution will lie in opening up your notebook's keyboard. However, to prevent extra work, press every key (do this in a word-processing program) and see which keys are affected. If every single key on a keyboard does not respond, you might have a software issue, which may require specialized help.
2.Clean the area around the keys that are not working. A damp lint-free cloth should be used to clean the surface of the affected keys. If you have stuck keys, use a Q-tip to clean under them, but take care not to pry the keys up, as this could result in further damage to your keyboard.
3.Remove the keys that are not working. Do this by grabbing some fingernail clippers and pulling out the hook-like fingernail cleaner extension. Use the small hook to gently pull the key up , which will expose a collapsible plastic hinge (commonly known as a key retainer) as well as a small rubber circular piece. Gently lift both of these pieces out of the keyboard.
4.Wipe the keyboard sensors clean with a dry cloth. The sensors are the little silver foil-like strips you see after your key components have been removed. Be very careful wiping these down--if they are damaged, they are very expensive to replace. Just gently dab it with a dry lint-free cloth to remove any dust/crumbs/particles that are interfering with your keyboard's functionality. Do not moisten the cloth with water or cleaning solution, as this heightens the risk for damage.
5.Reassemble and replace the keys. Simply fit the key retainer as well the little rubber piece together in the way you found them and then firmly press the key cap back in place.
6.Test your keyboard. Open a word-processing program and then press the replaced keys. If they still don't work, try restarting your computer, or activating a system restore point (to ensure that the problem is not software-related). If the keyboard is still not working, then you may want to think about taking the computer to a repair shop or replacing it altogether. (Keyboard repairs are very expensive.)

Thanks.

The letter "C" popped off

Hi Madelaine_an,

I'm sure that when the letter popped off, two white plastics also came off beneath the letter. Now if you kept them and did not throw them away, you have to first fix both of them, one facing up, the other facing down. There are two insertion points on the missing space on your key board where they are to fit into. These white plastics have edges on them, and can be a little bit depressed to fit into their insertion points, where they expand to fill it after fitting. They are designed such that when you see them you would know which goes into what direction. If you try it one way and it doesnt fit in, then you are trying it wrongly. Reverse the directions. After you have done that, get your letter 'C', and press it into the white plastic. If you fixed the white plastic well, the key should lock into it, but be flexible, ie move up and down.

I hopoe that was able to solve your problem? I would appreciate a rating.
Have a nice day.
