Try using userTry using the username admin and password also admin. This is the default setting. If that doesnt work you may need to reset the router by pushing the small button at the back of the router and then use the admin, admin to login.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Establishing a password for a linksys router

Most Linksys routers can be accessed using your web browser by typing this into the address bar (Hook your computer into the router using an ethernet (network) cable):

192.168.1.1

Here are a few typical login passwords to try:

User: admin
Password: password

User: admin
Password: admin

User: (leave blank)
Password: admin

User: (leave blank)
Password: password

Once you are logged into the router, you can visit the settings page to change the login password, or the Wireless Security page to change the wifi password.

I cn not find my wep code

Hi bobraywhite,

Try to locate the wep code underneath the router. If you cant find it I suggest trying the following steps:

1. Use the Internet Explorer browser.

2. Type the following IP address in your address bar: 192.168.1.1 , you will get a login window. Your user name can be blank and the password is admin. If you have trouble logging in use the user name: admin, and the password is: password.

3. Click on "wireless" then "wireless settings" or "wireless security." Toward the bottom of the screen look for "Security Encryption (WEP) key," if you see more than one WEP key use the first one listed.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for using FixYa

I'm trying to reset my lynksys router but can't get past the initial login. Don't know my old user name and password. Admin default doesn't work. States access unathorized

lower case admin is the password.Reset the router ,use a paper clip or a pin reset button between the ports hold the button down for twenty seconds.
try 192.168.1.1 in the address bar in Internet Explorer. When the log on appears type admin in lower case and hit enter you should be in the you can set up the router again.Remember to save settings on each page and copy the network key and store it in a safe place for future use.
Good luck

Slow web page loading

To setup and improve your wireless network’s signal, you can change your Wireless Network Name (SSID) and/or try using a different channel.
Changing your Router’s SSID and Channel
Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page.
Accessing the Router’s Web-Based Setup Page
Step 1:
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer.
Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router’s IP Address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Links-ys routers) then press [Enter].
Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name space blank, type in your router’s password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK.
Step 2:
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click the Wireless tab.
Step 3:
Look for Wireless Network Name (SSID) and if it’s still set to ‘linksys’ change it to something unique then click Save Settings.
click the Wireless tab and select the Wireless Security tab.
Step 3:
Select WEP under Security Mode.
Step 4:
Select any number on the Default Transmit Key field to determine which key you’ll be using. In this example, we selected number one.
Step 5:
Select 64 bits on WEP Encryption
Step 6:
Type a wireless network password of your choice such as “MySecretKey,” then click Generate.
NOTE: You should come up with a password that is unique for your network and is a combination of numbers and letters up to 10 characters.
Step 7:
The result will be a string of random characters. Copy the resulting string since this will be the key to your wireless network.
NOTE: Do not give this key to anyone. This will be your wireless network’s key.
And click save settings..
