Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.

2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.

3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.

4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

LOL, sounds like your tablet has seen it's better days. See why HP got out of the Tablet business? They are nothing but trouble.

How fix DC how fix DC S-P2450

What the Heck is DC? If you want help you've got to explain yourself better.

I'm assuming you are saying the Internal DC Power Jack which is where the Power Cord plugs into is bad. Well, this will require you to take the laptop apart. Most times the DC Power Jack is soldered onto the motherboard, which means you will have to desolder the old one and solder a new one. This alone will take over an hour just trying to get the old broken one out. You have to be very care so that you don't break the motherboard or damage some other part on the board. Sometimes the DC Jack is in a slot on the board and the Palmrest and Bottom Case helps keep in in place. This type of DC Jack will normally have a cable that plugs into the motherboard.

Good Luck!!!

Dell latitude e6410 chargin fault ,will run on dc adapter but shows not chargin ,battery not conected

  1. If the motherboard has ever been replaced, check the service tag section of the BIOS. If it is blank, enter the service tag off the bottom of the system. (The charging circuit will not work without it.)
  2. Also in the BIOS see if the AC adapter is identified or is listed as UNKNOWN. If the system cannot ID the adapter as a Dell Branded AC adapter 90w or larger, then the charger is again disabled. If unknown, check the barrel end of the DC jack of the adapter for the fine wire in the center, if broken or bent, then the adapter is not identified.
  3. Try with a different Dell branded 90w or larger D or E series adapter.
if all the above make no difference, and the Adapter is recognized, the battery may be at fault.
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3743571-long_will_battery_in_portable_computer
if the adapter is unknown, replace the adapter, unless it works normally on another system, and the other system's adapter has the same issue, in that case the motherboard is likely the issue.
Note: a 65w Auto/Air adapter will only charge the battery if the system is OFF

No post and no display

Do you have any indicator light activity at all?

If so, then try hooking up an external monitor.
If it shows display on the screen this would point to video issues (CCFL tube, Inverter, video chip, one or a combination of.)
There is also a key combination to switch between internal display and external monitor. Usually FN key + (little monitor symbol on one of the upper function keys)

If you dont have any indicator light activity then;
Things i would try first.
  1. Check the power adapter for power. (if you have a voltmeter this would be the easiest way) if not, try switching to another outlet
  2. Check your DC power jack to see if there is any freeplay or damage to it.
  3. If both these check out, then i would unplug dc power adapter from laptop, remove battery, and let the laptop sit for a few minutes. Then hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds. Plug in the DC power jack but dont place the battery back in yet.
  4. Try powering up. if no go, then plug the DC power jack back in and try powering up again.
If this still doesnt work, and your DC adapter voltage checks good and your DC power jack isnt loose, i would suspect either a charging circuit issue or deeper motherboard related issues.
Hope this helps

MY GATEWAY LAPTOP NO LONGER RECEIVES POWER.

Motherboard or harddrive? I'm betting it's more towards the motherboard. The DC Power Jack to be more specific. This is the port where the AC adapter, (Charger), plug is plugged into.

The DC Power Jack is not much bigger, than the plug for the AC adapter that plugs into it. There are small pin leads that are on the bottom of this jack, and they go through the motherboard, and are soldered to the motherboard.

Accidental bumping of the AC adapter plug, while plugged into the DC Power Jack, can damage the jack. It can break the connections for the adapter plug, and/or can crack the solder joints for those small pin leads.

[Laptops use DC electricity. A flashlight battery, and a laptop battery, are examples of stored DC electricity. DC electricity has two poles. Positive and Negative. The DC Power Jack has two connections. Positive and Negative. {Even if the DC Power Jack has multiple holes in it]

There is also another known problem associated with DC Power Jacks. It may stem from a bad motherboard design.

More to the point, the area where the DC Power Jack mounts on the motherboard. In this design, the DC Power Jack motherboard area, is almost a separate part of the motherboard. It's shaped like a Peninsula. (Think of an island, with one side connected to the mainland)

This peninsula shape, has the tendency to crack away from the main body of the motherboard. Circuit traces are broken.

When the AC adapter plug is setting in a certain position, it presses the two broken halves of the circuit traces together, for a momentary contact. As the AC adapter plug is moved from this position, the circuit trace halves are moved apart, and there is no contact.

(No distribution of electricity from one circuit trace half, to the other circuit trace half. Think of a circuit trace as a very, thin, flat copper wire. When a circuit trace is broken, there is essentially a wire that is broken into two parts)

Solution?
See if the DC Power Jack can be repaired, (Solder joint connections re-soldered), or replaced.
If the DC Power Jack motherboard area is the aforementioned peninsula shape, it may require replacement of the motherboard.

There are very FEW, computer repair shops that have the technical expertise to replace a DC Power Jack. Easy fix is to simply replace the motherboard. (More $$$$$ too)

However, some laptops DO require replacement of the motherboard for this repair.
Bad motherboard design, for the DC Power Jack area on the motherboard.

Re-solder DC Power Jack solder joints? (IF, this is the problem) Average is $50 to $75 (US)
Replace DC Power Jack? Average is $125 to $150. (US)
Replace motherboard? Depends on the Gateway model. Could be $225 to $400 (US)

[Yes, most of the time the cost warrants just replacing the laptop itself, as the cost of replacing, is close to the repair cost)

Just to SHOW you ab average DC Power Jack, and the repair involved of replacing. (Doesn't show you, that the entire laptop needs to be disassembled, down to the bare motherboard in hand)

This is NOT a recommendation to replace the DC Power Jack yourself! It is just for knowledge of what is partially involved. (You can accidentally burn the motherboard when desoldering, or soldering, rendering the motherboard useless)

Gateway m460 wont power up and battery wont charge!

From the information you provided it sounds like a bad DC jack, first check your power adapter with a volt meter if you have one accessible. If your power adapter is outputting the proper voltage, then within a 95% certainty its your dc jack. You can look at this website here for more info on dc jack repair, if you dont have the proper tools to fix it.

Toshiba Satellite 1415-S173

Hi

DC jack replacement is easy however requires a bit care since its mounted on the mainboard. Desolder the old DC jack. Solder the new one firmly. Dont keep the soldering iron too long on the PCB as it will damage the lines and will deform the DC Jack. You can get DC jack very low cos from local repair stores or you can order from Toshiba parts depot (800-524-8338)
Please post your question if you need further assistance.
Good Luck
