SOURCE: scanned image appears with lines going through it

it is possible, but first try cleaning the glass with a window cleaner and a soft cotton cloth and under the scanning options increase the quality to a higher setting and see if this helps at all. You may even benefit from purchasing a new scanner if this does not work as they a fairly resonably priced and will save you the hassle of repairing it.

SOURCE: vertical line in scanned image

This is because of dust sticking to the glass. Clean with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and dont use solvents. For emergency you can use your after shave but take care only to clean the glass portion!

Got same problem. Beginning to suspect the traveling lamp or associated electronics. Looking out for parts suppliers for elimination trials. Strange, once in a far while it works. Updated drivers again this very day.Suggest you try a good power adapter, and if you are technical, search for loose connections. Will keep you posted if I solve mine, being an electrical engineer, NOT electronics.

It sounds like a power surge has damaged the color controller and scan line section of the circuit board. The cost to repair is more then the replacement cost. Next time use a UPS for protection (battery back up for computer and electronics). Regards DaytonComputerDoctor@hotmail.com

How do I accent one colour and make the rest black and white?

This is a photoshop technique done in "post" processing. The picture is first made in color, layered in Photoshop, changed to B&W, then a portion of the picture is brought back to color. The image is then flattened and saved as a different file number.

How do i scan using a HP desktop F380

Deskjet F380 features a scanner within the upper portion of the device. "Scanning" an item describes the electronic process of converting pictures or text to data, then transferring that data to the computer as an image. Scanning an item into the computer is a simple task with the F380, the only limitation is the size of the item,
follow the steps below
Step 1
Turn the unit on by pressing the "On" button located at the top control panel. The control panel is located on the left side of the unit. The "On" button will illuminate to indicate that the unit is receiving power.
  • Step 2 Load the scanner with the item to be scanned. First, lift the lid of the F380 to the upright position to reveal the scanning surface. Place the item to be scanned face down onto the scanning surface. Position the item so that the edge of the item rests squarely against the front left-hand corner of the scanning surface, then close the unit's lid.
  • Step 3 Press the "Scan" button located at the lower left-hand corner of the F350's control panel to start the scan. If necessary, the scanning process can be stopped by pressing the "Cancel" button located just to the left of the "X" on the control panel.
  • Step 4 Save the scanned image to the computer when the scan is complete by clicking the "Accept" button on the window that appears on the computer's monitor.

You have a vertical output circuit problem. This was common for Philips' sets. Have a repair shop check it out. Should not be too expensive to repair.

How do I tell scanner to save pictures to a designated file? When I 'browse' and try to select a place, the 'OK' goes pale & I can't click on it. It seems to want to send it in an email.

    hi,

Basically when you are saving pictures or images after scanning them out, all of you have to do is, click on File Menu bar on the upper left portion of your PC screen. >Select Save from the drop-down menu and try to locate the computer drive (e.g My Documents) where you want to save the item exactly.

Hope to get your issue resolved,

Scans wrong size...only scan a portion or smaller "window" of document

Normally these scanner have a prescan window whcih shows the image that is being scanned. Only the selected area will be bright and the rest little shaded. You need to expand the selection, by dragging the line (dashes running along the border). Select default option in the software setting, if in doubt.

Trying to scan and then attach as document an 8.5 x 11 paper

Usually there will be a dashed line that is around the image. Sometimes it will just surround a darker portion of an image, such as the text portion on a white piece of paper. This is common. Use the mouse and aim it at the dashed line and "pull" the lines to the edges of your document, then press accept. This should fix your problem.

Images appear to be very noisy or grainy

When DIGITAL ZOOM is set to ON in the MODE MENU, the lens can zoom into the Digital Zoom portion of the zoom by pressing the zoom (T) button. When you see the zoom indicator on LCD enter the red portion (towards Tele), the image in the viewfinder will become closer. However, since the D-630 is using the digital portion of the zoom, the lens doesn't physically zoom, it takes the existing image and enlarges your image using an electronic program. This can result in a “noisy” or “grainy” look to the image. This is normal when using the DIGITAL ZOOM. The DIGITAL ZOOM can be turned OFF to prevent you from using this portion of the zoom. Locate DIGITAL ZOOM in the Mode Menu and set it to OFF.
