Question about Bosch Garden

1 Answer

I need to use my late husband's jigsaw but can't get the old, bent blade out. How do I do it and which blade do I replace it with? I need to cut a few cms off the width of a kitchen worktop. I have the following blades:- T 144 D;T 101 DP; T 101 B; T 111 C; T 119 BO; and T 101 AO.

Hi Jen,

It depends on whether you have an older or newer model jigsaw. Bosch makes the newer ones with a button you push that will release the blade.
On an older jigsaw, look at the handle from above the jigsaw directly in line with the blade. You should see a screw in the top of the handle. Use a screwdriver and loosen this screw, don't remove it, and when the screw is loose enough, you'll be able to pull the blade out. When you put the new one in, slide it in the slot until it seats.

A rule of thumb is to use the blade with the wider gap and larger teeth on wood, the smaller teeth on metal. Most blades will say bimetal on the metal cutting blades.
Now, the courser the teeth the rougher cut you'll get. So, if you want a nice cut, don't use the blade with the largest teeth. Move down to the next largest.

I don't have a Bosch, so am not sure which codes are for which blades, but you can't go wrong if you go by the size of the teeth.

You didn't say what material the worktop is made of. If it's wood, the second largest toothed blade should be fine.

If you've never used a jigsaw before, I could suggest a couple tips that would help you get a nice job done.
First, put a piece of painters tape or masking tape over where you will cut, draw your line and go easy. The tape will keep the blade from giving you a roughed up top edge.
When you get near the end of the cut, hold a piece of scrap wood flat against the back edge to prevent tearout.
Also, let the saw do the work, don't push it.

Hope this helps, If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up, Thanks,

I need a manual for CJ500 jig saw. I can't work out how to change the blade.

Ryobi has a customer support questionnaire that you can fill in to ask a question http://ryobi.custhelp.com/app/support/ask/incidents.c$enquiry_type/11
I suggest that because their database of instruction manuals seems to be having problems. I did find a picture of one of those saws and it appears that there are 2 hex screws that hold the blade in. it's the hex caps in FRONT of the top of the blade. Loosen those hex cap screws and the old blade should fall out.

How to fit blade in performer 350w jigsaw

There is a blade release that you have to push up while inserting blade. If this isn't the problem, there are many types of blades for different jigsaws. You need the one for your brand. Take an old blade with you when you purchase. Good luck

Uncut grass in center & higher grass cut on right.

Hi, this may sound obvious but make sure the new blade is the same type as the old one and make sure it is not fitted upside down. Spin the blades and make sure the tips are level with each other, this will tell you if the deck is straight where the blade spindles mount. Regards Phil.

Saw cuts bevel at 0 degree setting. Needs to set to about 3 degrees for square cut. Multiple saws with this problem. Is something bent, or worn out?

Check that the bed of the saw (the flat metal part on the bottom) isn't bent. I've had this sort of thing happen on a jigsaw that needed to be tapped back into square. Check the squareness of the saw with a framing square or a carpenter's square held against the blade and the bed of the saw with the blade guard open. Obviously, make sure the saw is unplugged before doing this.

How do I attach the replacement blade on my B&D jigsaw model 7504? I have the replacement blade but don't know how to attach it....

Locate the small hole with the screw inside it directly above the handle, which usually is in line with the blade. Loosen the screw with a flathead screwdriver. Once the screw is loose, gently pull the blade out from the unit .. this works with older Jigsaws for newer ones ,,Locate the release button just above the portal where the blade enters the body of the unit. Depress the button and gently pull the blade out from the unit.

Insert the new blade into the same portal that the old blade was removed from while depressing the release button. Ensure that the new blade is facing the same direction that the old blade faced. Once the blade is fully inserted into the portal, let go of the release button.

I have an old bosch 158IVS uh, what do you call a little reciprocating saw? jigsaw? anyways i can't for the life of me figure out how to change the blade. i've undone every screw. opened up the motor...

well the sawzaw will be drastically different from the jigsaw, but the jigsaw will have either a round twist lock that needs to be turned a little to remove the blade, or two screws that hold a flat plate that clamp the blade. and as for the sawzaw, it will be a twist lock, or a latch lock, the latch lock will look like a lever that needs lifted to remove the blade, and the twist lock is the same as the jigsaw.

DROPPED MY BOSCH 1590EVSK JIGSAW, REPLACED BENT BASE, BUT BLADE IS STILL NOT PERPENDICULAR TO BASE. CAN'T SEE ANY ADJUSTMENT METHOD TO ALIGN BLADE PERPENDICULAR TO BASE PLATE. HELP

The socket-head screw that holds the sole plate on is also the alignment screw. Loosen it a little and the sole plate will swivel left and right. There are graduation marks on the base to help with alignment but I always use a square to verify the alignment. Tighten the screw and check again that it didn't move and you are ready to go.

Cannot remove blade as do not hve manual 4350FCT makita jig saw

Hello Aiden,

This Makita jigsaw does not use any set screw fasteners to secure the blade in the saw. It has a "tool-less" blade retainer, so all you need to do to remove (or install) the blades, is to twist the small knurled ring nearest the blade shank.

Be sure to unplug the jigsaw first and with the blade shaft fully away extended from the saw, (you can just pull it out by hand if needed) and then simply twist the round locking ring and then with your other hand, pull the blade out of the jigsaw.

I would suggest that you use a glove on the hand you're going to pull the blade out of the jigsaw with, as those blades can be very sharp with the jagged cutting edges, etc.

Here's a parts breakdown of the jigsaw, for your reference and for obtaining any replacement parts you might need in the future.

Makita doesn't have an owner's manual listed on their web site for this product. You will need to contact Makita directly to obtain a free replacement manual for your product. You can contact them at

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
