Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

Sony TV KV-X2973E uk model: no sound in SCART or AV1, AV2.

Hello!
I have this sony crt TV model KV-X2973E whitch first, had sync and sound problems (picture sliding horizontaly and sound going loud out of control after some 20 or 30 mins of warming up.). I changed IC 304 and, to make sure IC 201 (CXA-1855s and TDA6612). After that all seemed OK, but after some 10 mins or so, sound faded and went silent. Searching on the net I found the cure were it was said to change R627 (on audio PS board). Now everything is OK but when I connect the VCR or Satellite or AV camcorder there is no sound. I haven´t either audio out on the scart from the external sources. I checked the power suplies. +22V -22V +9V all seem ok. No blinks on the LED´s. I have no ideia where to search to cure this problem. I hope someone will kindly suggest a psssible solution. Thanks in advance for your help. Answers to: arturduque@hotmail.com

    Hi Welcomegee!
Thanks for your fast and kind help. I got the manual fromhttp://www.free-service-manuals.com.
Set is around 11 years old and wish to give it away.
I´m following your suggestion through the mute circuit. In TV reception the mute and sound are working perfect.

I guess I have to get a scope and trace the audio external source.
    Thanks

Do you have its schematics or service manual? This kind of problem needs detailed schematic diagrams of related product. Let me know, are you Tech-Person or TV-Repairman?

Thanks for response and nice to know you as engineer. Though I don't have info for UK models in my PC yet I would try some tips or hints.

There would be Audio Mute command comes from System Control IC, please locate it in schematics and temporally disable it by some sort of open circuit ( remove resistor ).

If your TV is around 5-6 years old, then it has IF Module near RF Tuner. check this IF Box as its responsible for demodulated audio.

Your might has defective Source Selector IC i.e RF / A-V1 / A-V2 selection.

Hope these info would help you.

isn't there any manual/ book?
To connect TV to Sky Box VCR, connect the SCART lead from the AV1 socket on the TV to the TV SCART socket on the Sky Box. Connect another SCART lead from the AV2 socket on the TV to the AV1 socket on the DVD player and an RF cable from VCR to the aerial in socket on the TV.

Connecting up CRT TV, VCR, DVDR and digital box

Hi,
I think the better task is (A)
You can try switch scart's!! Then try to record on DVDR or leave as it is and look out for picture on your VCR!!! If you do (B) you will lose a picture quality!
good luck

If you are connecting your DVD and VCR to the TV using Scart leads, simply go into TV input option on your tv remote and switch to AV1 or AV2. i.e AV1 for VCR or AV2 for DVD player.

Where to put scart leads into dvd and video player and panosonic tv

Look at the rear of the TV/VCR/DVD & you will see long black sockets where the Scart cable is connected onto, these are normally indicated as AV1/2 etc. You can then take Scart from DVD to TV on AV1. Then on AV2 take the second scart from VCR to TV or you can take the second scart from the DVD to the VCR & from the VCR to AV2 on the TV.
