Question about Xerox Phaser 7750DN Laser Printer

1 Answer

Xerox Phaser 7750DN 'Clicking' Noise - I have recently purchased this pre-loved printer and it has just started making a clicking noise during warm-up and when printing. I have run a Dispenser Motor Test from Service Diags and each colour's motor sounds OK, except for the black one. The machine makes the same noise on that particular test run, so does that indicate that the Black Dispenser Motor is faulty/dying? Is it something that needs urgent replacement and if so, am I able to fix it myself and for what cost (roughly)? Many thanks!

I suspect you have lumpy toner in the black cartridge and it will not turn properly. The sound is probably the impeller hitting hardended toner. Try another black toner but give it a good shake before you fit it and DONT empty the drum as you will lose the developer within it.

Hope that cures it. good luck

Check the rails the paper tray sits upon. see if the one on the right side is damaged or dislodged. You didn't say if the noise happened when you printed from the 2nd paper tray.

Xerox 6360dn, Tray 2 makes loud grinding noise when printing. Tray 1 is as quiet as a mouse. Replaced tray 2 with a known good tray and it still makes grinding noise.

In my experience, it was the registration roller causing the grinding noise. See for troubleshooting video.

There is a motor in the laser called the polyogon motor, It turns the mirrors in the laser.
It most likely is not starting fast enough. The laser isnt that hard to remove. But if it has failed, it is pretty expensive.
Let me know if you want to attempt to pull it.

Are you getting a specific code? 10-XXX ?? That would help narrow it down.

That noise is one of the rollers on the lower pinch rolls contacting the plastic frame or the door, unfer the 2nd BTR assembly.. It may not even be there when the machine isnt fully warmed up. There is a spacer kit you can install to create a gap between the roller and cover.
It could also be the clutches for duplex.
Not sure what to tell you with the bottle. Normally that is very accurate. The yellow toner is more likely comming from the yellow toner hopper. There is a fairly thin soft rubber cover over the auger that can slip off easily and leak on any of those toners. I would suspect that before the bottle detection. Full bottle detection is pretty finicky.
