Spot screen

Hello

First find an external monitor to test if its the screen on your laptop or the graphics chip in your laptop. If you have an external monitor then hook it up to your laptop and toggle the video over to see if you still see the spot.If it only shows on the laptop screen the Replace the screen.
Another thing you can do is run the built in Diagnostics
Diagnostics before windows using the F12 Diagnostics
* Reboot and press F12 to enter the Boot Menu
* When the boot device list appears, highlight Diagnostics and press Enter
* The computer begins to run the Pre-boot System Assessment, a series of embedded diagnostics that perform initial testing on your system board, keyboard, hard drive, and display
* If the Pre-boot System Assessment completes successfully, you receive the message Booting Dell Diagnostic Utility Partition
* Press any key to continue
* Press any key to start the Dell Diagnostics from the Diagnostics utility partition on your hard drive
* After the Dell Diagnostics loads and the Main Menu screen appears, click the button for the option you want to run -
Express Test = Performs a quick test of devices. The test typically takes 10 to 20 minutes and requires no interaction on your part
Extended Test = Performs a thorough check of devices. The test typically takes 1 hour or more and requires you to answer questions periodically
Custom Test = Tests a specific device. You can customize the tests to be run
Symptom Tree = Allows you to select tests based on a symptom of the problem you are experiencing
* When you have finished running a test, close the screen to return to the Main Menu screen. To exit the Dell Diagnostics and reboot the computer, close the Main Menu screen.

Acer all in one z5700 black display after windowa start

Usually if youhave at least the list of devices when you start and the black screen kicks in after windows is loading it is a setting issue You probably made a wrong choice on setting by mistake or lack of knowledge about a function ..and cause it is not supported it shows the black screen ..I repeat ..only if it does show something before loading windows..In this case you have to reinstall the video driver and will get to teh original settings ..To do so it is enough to boot the computer in safe mode ..and uninstall the video driver and install it again ..Use the disk for teh driver or ..if you do not have it anymore ..download the driver from the support site ..
http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=2455
here you can find teh driver ..(there are 2 of them for vga ..but you have to install the one you need..if you are not sure try them one by one ..and only the one it has device will finish ..
select the operation system before download..
if you are not sure about how to boot in safe mode..try teh boot menu ..by pressing teh key asked on screen ..or just unplug it without proper closing and will show the option ..

Download sever error, boot file not found?

This is odd...you probably messed up the bios settings ..or cause it is missing the hard disk or something ..it made it try to boot from network ..and this error is caused by the lack of a server capable to load teh files...to reinstall it or use teh files as operation system ..
If you did not made any changes in BIOS ..this does not sound good...cause it means it looks for alternate boot devices ..this only mean it does not have a operation system on the hard disk (either just changed it or for some reasons you lost all files ) ..
or the boot sequence is set to look for a network first ..and in this case you should go back to BIOS ...select the boot sector and change them back ... Select the hard disk as first boot device ...cd /dvd as second..and floppy the 3rd ..select to save the new settings on exit ..and boot again ..
If you have a sata hard disk ..and you defaulted the BIOS settings ..you may look to see if the ahci function is on for the hard disk ..If it is ..try to disable it ..cause if it lacks the driver for ahci ..it will not boot from the hard disk ..
If you just changed the hdd or for some reasons your operation system is not able to boot ...you have to reinstall it ..either using the recovery partition ...if it has one ..or the recovery disk ..if you do not have either of them ..you will need a boot-able disk with the operation system on it..and the procedure is to insert the disk ..and restart the computer ..press F12 for teh boot menu ..and select to boot from teh disk drive ..and press any key for confirmation ..and will start loading files and go with installation ..When primary files are done ..it will ask to press enter to continue ..than you have to agree with the conditions ..and will show the partitions and teh previous operation systems on it ..Select the one that already have a windows..(C drive ) ..and press enter to install ..Also select to format this drive ..and this way get rid of any unwanted bugs ..(select format ntfs quick )
In this modent will load system files..and when it is done ..will restart ..and start installing windows..You will only have to interact when it asks for ..(select time zone ..name and such ..)

I can not boot from window 7 disc?

enter the bios usually f2 or del pressed immediately after turning the laptop on, also look for something on the screen saying press f11(or some other button) to enter boot menu

if you have the boot menu option then you can choose to boot from cd/dvd and windows 7 will load, if you havent you will need to enter the bios and change the boot priority to boot from cd/dvd first

if this helped please vote

Starts with disk drive 0 seek failure. hit f1to continue then blue screen with stop: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0X83AF9630, 0X8A6BC7B4, 0X8A6BC4B0) appears. Any help?

Your computer is not able to boot from your hard drive. That means that:
1) Your hard drive is defective
2) Your software on the hard drive is corrupted and needs to be reloaded

To determine if your hard drive is bad, you will need a bootableCD, you can use your "Dell Resource" CD or any other bootable CD disk. Power on the laptop and tapthe F12 key to get to the "Boot Selection Menu". Insert the "Resource CD" intothe CD-ROM drive. Select "Boot from CD/DVD drive" from the selection menu. If it boots from the CD you have a problem with the hard drive.

Dell Latitude D630 Laptop, no Bootable device when trying to start laptop, but hard drive works find on other computer usb drive

It sounds like you have lost the boot manager file. The boot manager is a file set up by Windows to stop hackers from getting in to your system and if a problem occurs it is deleted by Windows.
When you try to boot and the desktop gets to POST, teh Dell page, quicklt hit F8
When, and it will take a few goes to get the timing right, you are succesfull a DOS menu will be shown on your screen
Select repair and follow the instructions.
Hope this helps.

Setup is locked, hoekan ik het unlocken om een verse window xp te installeren

OK ..you have several options ...First ..try to open it up ..and remove the bios battery from the main board..remember to also remove any other power source ..and place the battery back after 30 seconds..This will clear the bios settings and also the password..
If this will not work , you can try to fool the system by inserting the disk ..and start without the hard disk on ..It will take teh next option and will boot from the disk ..and you have to plug the hard disk on immediately ..It may work ..
If the password will be removed by removing battery ..than all you have to do is press f12 for boot menu and start from the disk and install .

Another way is to start windows installation from teh previous windows ..Just open the disk and click set-up ..or install windows..it will start from windows and after loading primary files will restart and continue normal ..
the last option is to remove the hard disk and install a clean operation system in another computer and place it back ..
it will work just fine ..but you will need all drivers for your computer to be installed manually and will also need to be made from a boot-able disk ..and not from recovery ..
Anyway ..try the battery removal and let me know what goes on ..and after that we'll see ..
please try to use English ..even if it is not very good...I will try to understand..

I purchased a Maxtor 3200 external (USB) drive. If I connect it before I boot up, my PC will not boot up. If I connect it after I boot up, Windows XP does not recognise it is there and will freeze after...

Hi,

First, you need to disable the boot from USB devices option from the BIOS. You can find it in the Main Menu, Advanced Menu or in the Boot Menu according to the type of BIOS you are using.

Ensure that you are connecting the device to the rear USB ports of the PC.

After that, please go to Disk Management.

Cick Start>Run and type in the folowing command to open the Disk Management Window.

DISKMGMT.MSC

Check if it is detected there.

If so right click on and select Create Partition.

After partioning it, you can format it.

Hope this helps!
